Heard a Rumor: Cubs Interested in Crisp

Because HE personally called ME out on it. My only response to the validity of the rumor was:

So you don't think that saying "this is completely fabricated..." called his credibility into question? Or more importantly, that he would interpret it in that manner?

You can say what you want but I don't see how saying something is "fabricated" can be construed as positive. Anyway, I don't have a stake in the debate one way or another but I can certainly see why it got heated in the thread.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Coco Crisp, who lost his center field job to rookie Jacoby Ellsbury in the postseason, said Wednesday he'd probably talk to the Boston Red Sox about trading him if it appears he won't get his starting job back.

 

"Honestly, I think so because I want to play," Crisp said before his spring training workout. "I wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench."

Well, I just read the whole thread (never looked before because I don't care about Crisp, he was never coming to the Cubs, IMHO) and it lookes to me like Meph did let it go. He made his first post and moved on. He made several other posts and never again mentioned the validity of the rumor. Then Hoops decided to call Meph out--16 days later (by Hoops own admission) to which Meph responded. Maybe you should be asking Hoops why he took Meph (saying the rumor was bunk) so personally. Who cares if Meph comments that the rumor is bunk? Many other guys did as well, just in a different manner. Maybe Hoops just should have moved on? Maybe he should have put Meph on ignore, then he wouldn't have to see Meph saying his rumors are garbage.

 

Just my opinion. There should be room for differing views on a board this size.

The Chicago Tribune speculates that the Cubs could be interested in Coco Crisp.

 

Acquiring Crisp makes little sense for the Cubs unless they're convinced that Felix Pie isn't ready yet and won't be all season. If given an extended chance to prove himself, Pie is a decent bet to out-produce Crisp for a fraction of the cost.

Last night Kaplan reported that the cubs want to get both the Roberts and the Crisp deals done. I was surprised as I hadn't heard much about Crisp in awhile.
