I guess I'll put this in here cause it's not just regarding Perrilloux

This is from Columbia Tribune Mizzou reporter Dave Matter:

I can’t help read about Perrilloux and think of the story ESPN.com’s Bruce Feldman retold last summer. From this story, comes this golden nugget:

Daniel and buddy Colt McCoy attended a summer camp in Austin, but UT offensive coordinator Greg Davis told Daniel the Longhorns were more interested in Louisiana hotshot Ryan Perrilloux. Daniel decided to commit to Missouri, the first school that offered him. Later that summer, while attending the Elite 11 QB camp in California, Daniel met Perrilloux. They didn't exactly hit it off. "I was so tired of hearing him run his mouth," Daniel says. "He was like, 'I'm the best at everything,' so I challenged him." "Let's run a 40-[yard dash]," Daniel said to Perrilloux in front of all the other campers. "Back up your talk." They raced and Daniel said he beat Perrilloux by two yards. The Louisiana QB said he slipped and asked for a rematch after he put his cleats on. "Next time I beat him by a yard," Daniel said with a smile.

Proof QB's from Texas are better than from LA ;-). I really dislike Perrilloux too though for the way he handled and treated Texas, the kid has zero class and in all likelihood will be in prison within 3 years.

Purdue safety Torri Williams was suspended indefinitely last week for allegedly stealing condoms from a grocery store the week before. He was already on probation for a drunk driving charge.

That's not how you want to end your career going into your senior season.

Pat White behind Sam Bradford in the Heisman race?

asking as a complete WVU homer

Not really surprising. Steve Slaton is gone as is Rich Rodriguez. Brian Brohm went from a favorite for the Heisman this past season to nothing with Petrino leaving. And if WVU struggles as a team with Rodriguez gone, White's shot at a Heisman will disappear. And since Oklahoma is much more likely to be a 10-2 or better team than WVU is, Bradford's chances at a Heisman are probably better as well.

Slaton was a non factor and Devine was better and their whole offensive line is back. WV kept the system they had while Louisville hired a coach from another team.

Schmitt will be missed much more than Slaton. By the end of his junior year, Slaton was a lot less effective than Devine. We also return all of our offensive lineman

If Georiga finishes in the top 3 this year Matthew Stafford will end up cracking the top 10 for Heisman and end up being really high on the list.

Mizzou just started selling single game tickets this week, although I didn't check the link to see if that included the Arch Rivalry or Border War since I'll be getting student tickets. Clicking around the Mizzou website a bit, it doesn't look like they're on sale.

In other Arch Rivalry news, they moved the start time back to 7:30 this week to accomodate ESPN. Looks like it'll be the prime time matchup.

A Sixth District judge ordered the search warrants in a sexual assault investigation allegedly involving two former Iowa football players be made public in July.

In an order filed Wednesday, Judge Amanda Potterfield ordered the six search warrants stemming from the alleged Oct. 14, 2007, sexual assault in Hillcrest Residence Hall be unsealed July 8. A previous judge had ordered the documents be sealed until then.

Questions for people who have went to the IL-Mizzou football game in the past. How much are tickets? Any idea if they have group rates, and if so how many is considered a group? With both teams being ranked this year, am I going to need to sit at a computer and try to get tickets like we do for Cub games?

I think it's hard to say. Last year was the first time in 4 years I believe that they had played the game, and there were empty seats everywhere since neither team had sky-high expectations for the season. This year will be a completely different animal, so I don't know what to expect as far as ticket availability. I'd think one of the school websites or the whatever-financial-company-they're-calling-it-today dome website would be able to help with the group rate stuff.

I went last year and I thought that attendance was pretty good. I'd say the dome was over 80% full. This year's game is a lock to sell out, so I think the best option is to get tickets online as soon as they go one sale.

I got tickets last year in the lower bowl for ~ $70/seat. I'm a member of the I-fund, but I'm not a huge donor so I don't think that makes much of a difference.

The field at Indiana's Memorial Stadium has been heavily damaged:

Trib[/url]"]BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University's Memorial Stadium football field turf was severely damaged by heavy rain and strong winds this week and has been ruled unplayable.

Now it's a mad dash to get it fixed before Indiana's season-opener Aug. 30 against Western Kentucky.

"We're bringing in some turf specialists to see if it can be salvaged or whether it's totaled," Indiana athletic director Greenspan told The Associated Press on Friday. "We have to do this in about six or seven weeks, and it very well might be totaled. I've never seen anything like it."

The problems began Wednesday when the Bloomington area was hit with flash flooding, turning the football field, which rests beneath the parking lot level, into what some eyewitnesses described as a floating island of green turf.

When the water finally drained, a hole about 10 inches deep ran from the middle of the field, just inside the end line to the fence separating the field from fans.

That was only part of the problem.

Greenspan said the south end of the field, from the end zone to about the 30- or 40-yard line, was lumpy and he's still uncertain how much it will cost to fix. The estimate, Greenspan believes, could be $750,000 to $1 million.

...........

"The closest thing I've seen to this was when I was out at Cal in '89 and they had the earthquake," he said. "The turf just kind of rode along like a wave. I've never seen water or the volume of water get underneath carpet like that and destroy the turf like that."
