Does this list really mean anything? Nobody on there is a surprise to me, not a single person. Can the MLB suspend 1/2 the league?

Nothing will come from this.

If I was El Guapo, I would want a refund. :)

Since the player's union, for the most part, refused to cooperate with the investigation, Mitchell and his staff did not have subpoena power, and most of this stuff occurred before MLB banned said substances even though they were illegal. Very few of those named in this report will serve suspensions. They will be punished in the court of public opinion, and for those still playing I have no doubt it will be used against them when negotiating there next contracts.

Wasn't a math major but I don't think about 30 (active) players constitutes "1/2 the league."

In short, it's a diversionary witch hunt to make the public ignore how the MLB is dragging its feet and doing jack squat to actually be proactive with this and attempt to clean up the game. It's much easier to point at stuff that already happened and nobody can do anything about and go "SHAAAAAAAAAAAAME" as opposed to actually trying to crack down in the here and now.

I think we'll see that the cracking down on the here and now will be difficult. I've said before, the Olympics have very stringent testing and harsh penalties, yet PED use is rampant in those sports.

Yeah, tha's kind of what I was going for. The league is "dragging its feet" because they know they can't actually clean everything up like people expect, hence reports like this that actually do nothing.

30 teams X 25 players = 750 total players

30/750 = .04 or 4% which is a lot less than 1/2 or 50%.

I think his sarcasm detector is broken. That, or he really wanted to do some quick multiplication.

apparently there are going to be former Cy Young winners (favorites: Clemens, David Cone, Jack McDowell) and MVPs (favorites: Sosa, Bonds, Tejada, Giambi -- is there even a point if he is named?, Pudge, Juan Gone, Caminiti - again, what's the point)

Sucks to be you if you'd be CT''s life.

Well if that list is true - Prior shocked me, as did wood.

As for Sammy, I'd really like to believe he never did roids - but like others have said in this thread, at that time probably more than half of the league was on some kind of roids so I guess it wouldn't really be surprising.

I'm just glad to see clemens on the list - and sorry for ever doubting you on the prior thing GCG,

The TV coverage already bores me, as I'm sure the report will once it's released. I'll go out on a limb and say even ESPN won't even be talking about it that much in a few days.

First question: what the Heckudome did John Kruk tip a guy in Phili $14,000 for?

Somewhere in time, was there a young college girl who really needed $3,000?

Hmmm...that big list you guys posted...is that steroids or amphetamines or both? Because Neifi is on that list...I thought he was busted for amphetamines. I can't fathom that he was on steroids...
