That's right folks, today is the day The Mitchell Report is released. I feel like I just woke up on Christmas morning!

These comments pretty much sum up my feelings on this topic. Here's my favorite:

I'm gonna try and not derive any pleasure from any name on the list, because I know that every team is going to be implicated. Except for Clemens. The only thing better than seeing him on the list would be if, as his name was announced, he was simultaneously hit by a garbage truck. -- Shea Guevera

That's great! ESPN wouldn't even mention Thee Rocket if his name is on the list, they'll harp on some poor fool and omit him if possible.

I'll admit. I had one of those "i don't feel so good but I can probably drag my ass into work" mornings, and decided to stay home after recalling that the report comes out today.

Lol, probably be the longest book i've took the time to read in a while...

over/under on # of current or former Cubs on the list?

over/under on # of current or former players who release statements denying the allegations on the report?

I just hope the report is clear on why each name is included. Such as, I'm going to view a player included because there's proof of delivery a bit differently than one included just because a clubhouse guy speculated he thought he did.

It will be interesting to see how far a player that is included and really was clean will take it. I'm sure there will be a lawsuit or two.

I'm still waiting for that Bonds lawsuit!

The amount of hyperbole and indignation is awesome.
This is what I cannot stand. I can just imagine the self-righteous indignation that will be spilling out of the word processors of the likes of Mike Lupica, Bill Conlin, and their ilk over this.

In two weeks, no one will care.

A lot of these talking heads should spend a little more time defending why they weren't speaking out against drugs when McGwire was chasing Maris. When a player looks more like Hulk Hogan than Hank Aaron, you ought to figure something out.

Of course, since I mentioned Mark I also have to say I'll be shocked if Sammy Sosa isn't on the list.

I could be completely wrong, but I have a feeling its going to be rather anti-climatic in terms of the names released. A decent portion of the list is going to be former Mets, and then after the report comes out what is even going to happen. Probably 30-40% of the players are going to be retired or out of the game, an additional 25%-35% are going to be too small names to care, which leaves only about 5-10 players that people will really be talking about, and those names are probably already names that we've already known about/speculated about like Tejada, Sheffield, Bonds, etc.

apparently there are going to be former Cy Young winners (favorites: Clemens, David Cone, Jack McDowell) and MVPs (favorites: Sosa, Bonds, Tejada, Giambi -- is there even a point if he is named?, Pudge, Juan Gone, Caminiti - again, what's the point)

Well, that Clemens bit that Cuse just posted about is huge. And I'm glad that's the level of guilt there. I'll take "yes, I gave him steroids..." over "well, I heard some whispers..." anyday.

They just said it on Mike & Mike.

Thanks for the source. I'd be listening but I'm too busy spinning VHS or Beta's "Bring On The Comets" and trying to decide if I should make it out to see them tonight...

I would have to disagree with you if, as claimed on ESPN Radio, Roger Clemens is named in the report......

If Clemens is, in fact, named, will his HOF chances take a big hit?

Will you believe it if they say they have emails? Not sure if everyone realizes but George Mitchell sent letters to every club telling key individuals they could not delete anything from their computers as well as their assistants, etc. We all know that good computer people can find everything once the get their hands on a system. And don't think they didn't...MLB took possession of the computers and had them examined. I am sure they learned a lot that way alone.
