  1. Ward smoked a pitch down the first base line, LaRoche made a great diving catch and then Osoria dropped his throw to retire Ward. It should have been an extremely easy catch for Osoria, it was a perfect throw. Thanks...
  2. For those of us that don't have TV/Radio access can someone explained what happened during Ward's AB?
  3. Or the players called can all pull a Maguire and state that "they're not here to talk about the past..." Clemens isn't going to give them anything and the hearings will be only a chance for some Congressmen to get some face time in front of the camera at the expense of MLB.... I just wish Congress would tackle the real important issues like Social Security and just leave baseball alone..... They've been trying to "fix" social security for 40 years, a couple days of steroid hearings isn't going to hurt their efforts (or lack thereof). I guess for the players sake, better a McGwire than a Palmeiro. Actually they haven't....There's a reason Social Security is called the third rail in politics...Anyone brave enough to confront it dies a political death. I'm just tired of Congress holding public stunts like these Baseball Hearings for the suppossed good of the people when in reality their blustering in front of the camera won't change a damn thing... So you think if Congress hadn't stepped in before and held hearings that Selig and the Union would have all of sudden strengthened their PEDs policies when they hadn't done anything but look the other way for years? :pig: While I grant you that the previous hearings did prompt MLB and the players association into action, there is absolutely no benefit to holding another rounds of hearings now. What good will come out of it other than giving some no name Congressmen some time in front of a camera.... How about we let the current steriod program play out and worry about some more important issues affecting this Country....

  6. That may be the main reason for most who are down on him. There's also the issue that he strikes out a ton and doesn't walk much, two very big red flags when evaluating a prospect. So, even if Corey never existed, I'm sure there would be many with doubts. There's also the fact that a certain part of the crowd views all prospects as suspects first and foremost. I agree that even if Corey didn't come before him there would be folks that would be down on Felix, based on his red flags (Strikeout/Walk Rates), but that was/are the same issues Corey had so even though Felix is still young and could learn to get his rates better many don't want to risk giving him that chance.
  7. In my humble opinion, the main reason people are down on Pie is because his predessor as top OF prospect, CPatt, fell flat on his face.....Everyone saw Patterson's metoric rise and eventual downfall, so I'm sure most are worried Felix is headed towards the same path. It may be safer, for some, to trade him now while he has good market value rather then risk holding on to him and get nothing just like what happened with Patterson..... Thoughts?
  8. Yea I forgot about Trammell. I like Trammell, but I hope they give Ryno a fair shot if/when they do interviews....I'd hate to see them give it to Trammell just because he's Lou's bench coach. Ryno's was my childhood hero so please excuse my bias......
  9. Just heard he agreed to be the manager at Peoria again this year. Does anyone think he's been promised serious consideration to be Lou's replacement when he retires? I can't imagine he would decide to manage another year in Single A ball if he wasn't given assurances that he has an excellent chance at managing the Big Ballclub in the near future...... Personally I think Ryno would be a great pick as he loves all things Cubs and would be a calming influence on the team ala a Joe Torre type of manager. Should Ryno be the next manager of our beloved Cubs?
  10. We've got some decent hate going with the Pads - I don't see it as a problem. We can still hate him as much just not as often. Meh. We won the battle for Kosuke, so I don't really have too much to hate them for. Their fans probably have more reason to dislike the Cubs than we do to dislike the Padres. I guess Towers' involvement with Prior was kind of shady, but I'm really not sure what kind of impact that had on the outcome of the situation. Besides, I'm still grateful to them for knocking the Brewers out of the playoffs. That said, my hatred for Edmonds will not change. :) And as long as Tony LaRussa is the Cardinals manager, there will always be someone to hate. My hatred for the Padres will remain as long as the image of Steve Garvey raising his fist in celebration during the 84 playoffs remains in my mind.....The only team I hate more are those crappy Cardinals......
  11. I would have to disagree with you if, as claimed on ESPN Radio, Roger Clemens is named in the report...... If Clemens is, in fact, named, will his HOF chances take a big hit?
  12. Why? Just Cobb's well known racism shouldn't exclude him from being judged on his baseball ability......George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slaveowners so does that mean they can't be judged as great Presidents? As a minority I don't have to like Ty Cobb as a person, but that certainly wouldn't affect my belief that he should be considered one of the all-time baseball greats..... On another note, I also think Adrian "Cap" Anson to be an all-time great and he was just as much (if not more) of a racist than Cobb was......
  13. And yes I know I sound like a cave man with this post.... Meant to say "Why do you think".......
