Hahaha, you guys are losing your mind over Japanese Matt Murton.

For like 30 times the price.

You can't put a price on defense.

not this stuff again every post must have either ten references to fukudome (k-fuku or kosuke are acceptable as well) OR it must be Roast or Mizzou's reaction to lack of Fukudome updates

Umm... what?

Your one post in this thread all day was quite obviously enough to get you mentioned next to my multiple posts.

We've asked people not to do this anymore.

ever, or just in this thread?

Ever.

there'll just be a new one, like this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1agzp_PM-Z4

It is not RICK ROLL. It's a song though.

Holy hell. That's the best thing I've seen in a while.

I think it should be this one... especially for new acquisitions. http://youtube.com/watch?v=_yJ_86fqX5k

Well, Fukudomes OFFICIAL announcement that he is coming to the US/Playing in Japan is supposed to come in half an hour... that's something at least.

His agent isn't expecting to hear from him until some time after a half hour from now (10 PM). I'd be shocked if that actually translated to a news story screaming over the wire right at 10 PM or even within spitting distance of the hour.

It'll be in the Japanese media right away - most likely, as he said he would notify Japanese teams first of his decision. Thanks to the intraweb we have access to the Japanese media and such.

For once, my watching of Japanese media 24/7 is finally going to pay off.

Anyway, MLB just posted something an hour ago about "Still waiting on Fukudome" Nothing at all we haven't heard yet. Except an extended quote from Towers that makes it sound like it's down to only us and the Pads. Well, technically he says two cities, so the sox could still be a factor I guess. Anyway:

The Friars have made Fukudome a multi-year offer that is believed to cover three or four years and over $10 million a year annually.

"The agent has kept it close to the vest," Towers said. "All I know is that it's come down to two cities. From a geographic standpoint, I think we're attractive. Money certainly plans into it and the competiveness of the ballclub."

Ok, well, this article by CBSSports clears up what I just said:

"All I know is it seems like it's coming down to two cities," said the general manager of one of them, San Diego's Kevin Towers, Monday afternoon. "And there's two teams in one of the cities."

Competitiveness of the ballclub? Goodbye White Sox.

According to MLB.com, the Cubs could offer him a deal similar to that that was given to Soriano. I just hope that this doesnt blow up in Hendrys face. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

Yeah, we found that out yesterday. Scary thought.
