The link works, but I don't see anything on there about the Astros...unless I'm just missing it.

It's on the 2nd page.

The Astros told clubs Wednesday night that they were on the verge of a major deal, but details were unclear. Second baseman Chris Burke and outfielder Luke Scott have been among the most available Astros, and the team spoke with the Pirates about left-handed reliever Damaso Marte earlier this week. Rival clubs have targeted some of the Astros' young pitching as well. ...

The funniest quote:

He also is a favorite of Orioles owner Peter Angelos, who refused to allow his previous front office to trade Roberts to the Braves at last year's winter meetings. ...

Yea, Roberts isn't coming to Chicago.

I've said it before, but I'd be pissed if I were an Oriole fan and had Angelos as an owner. The guy has to have his hand in everything. I wonder if MacPhail said he'd only come to the Orioles if Angelos stopped micromanaging a bit. It's ridiculous that their GM's can't trade players because the owner thinks Roberts is a swell guy or whatever.

Sounds like you might be right Hoops. I don't understand what the Orioles would want from the Astros.

Adam Everett, Chris Burke, and a PITCHER? Even if the pitcher is a promising young prospect, we can TOTALLY outmatch that.

I'm pretty sure Bruce said that the reason we're not pursuing Tejada is his salary. He made no mention of us not being able to match the Orioles' asking price.

I really doubt this is correct. He might go to the Astros, but the Astros have to be giving up more than that. That trade is like us giving up Cedeno and Theriot and a pitcher basically. Neither Burke nor Everett can hit.

Wow. Now what do the Angels do for their 3B hole?

Scott Rolen, come on down......

Actually, I could see Moreno going after Melvin Mora.

790 The Sports Animal, a Houston radio station, is reporting that the Astros are close to a deal to acquire Miguel Tejada. The reported package: Adam Everett, Chris Burke, and a pitcher. Heard them saying this myself by listening online; they're talking about it now.

We could certainly top that offer, but I think Hendry is reluctant to add Tejada because of the Mitchell report due to come out. He seems to be avoiding players with "issues" (Tejada, Hamilton, Bradley, etc.).

I think that alot of GMs think that tejada is going to be in the Mitchell report and that mixed with the face that the O's didnt want to pick up any of the contract and that really hurt what the O's could get for him. I would assume the astros would pick up the entire contract with that offer.

I think you are going to see the O's start to make their moves here shortly with Tejada being the 1st blow and Roberts and Bedard to follow..........

Sean is being traded, isn't he?
