As I said earlier, a don't see the Orioles trading Tejada for Burke and Everett unless there's a very good pitcher going there in return as well.

But do you really see Troy Patton as being a very good pitcher? His ceiling is a #3 IMO, if that. Hes not a top 20 pitching prospect.

I gotta question that I know no one will be able to answer with anything other than "It's Jim Hendry..." but with SS being a more obvious area of concern, and Tejada probably being a better overall player than Roberts, why are we going after Roberts and not Tejada...

According to Lou, Theriot has earned the SS job.

But I agree. I'd go after Tejada instead of Roberts.

Perhaps it's Tejada's salary that's prohibitive.

What exactly did he do to earn it?

So if the Stros get Matsui and Tejada and all they give up is a bunch of average players...does this put them in position to win the weak Central?

No. Roy Oswalt can't pitch anymore than once every 5th day.

Do the Astros think they can compete next year? Even in the NL Central I don't see them putting up a fight. They have a horrible rotation, and they'd have three good hitters surrounded by nothing.

Here's some comments from the Astro's GM, maybe a three way with Robert's coming here is possible:

"Now it's up to, in one instance, one club, in another instance, a couple of clubs, to sort of look at it and say, 'Does this fit in with what we're trying to do?' We're a player in a few things but we're not the club that's in a position of saying, 'Deal.'"
"There's still some things in play that have significance, but I don't know if we're going to get to the finish line on them or not. There are a lot of moving parts that we have no control over, a lot of multiple team scenarios."

Can anyone else other than a Cubs minor leaguer's dad confirm that Tejada to the Astros is a done deal?

Dude, he said that it was posted at cubs.com. What more do you need to know than that? Everything over there is true - those guys know their stuff.

Once again, I ask - how is it Chris Burke has all this trade value but according to people on here "Sam Fuld isn't even qualified to be the 6th outfielder in the beer leagues?" They've got pretty similar minor league careers. Yeah Burke can play second, but is that small amount of versatility a huge difference? I just don't understand the people who claim to already know that, okay, Fuld isn't great or particularly good, yeah, we know that, but useless is what I balk at.

I'm guessing that it's common knowledge amongst the GMs that Tejada's been a juicer and don't want to be associated with the bad pub when that fact comes out, Angelos included. It would make more sense that "they are dying to get rid of that guy", a Burke/Everett/pitcher deal is actually being considered, and that Hendry and other GMs are using the salary excuse. Salary is a red herring, nobody would consider Tejada's salary prohibitive while Jose Guillen gets signed for the same money.

Are you attributing more value to Chris Burke than Sam Fuld!? Very few know that Sam Fuld sucks, while everyone knows that Chris Burke sucks.

. Roberts also has had PED rumors surrounding his career and previous power surge. Although, I don't dispute that Tejada's name seems to come up more frequently in those discussions.

Didn't mean to stir things up but I had gone to Cubs.com and there was a post about Tejada to the Astro's. I think somebody had said that it was being reported by a Houston radio station. I know nothing more than what I have read at all the teams websites that it is being speculated that the O's owner nixed the trade.

Don't sweat it. We've had a bunch of rumors flying around.

I thought the Astros 'big deal' was getting Kaz Matsui?
