Astros on the verge of a big deal?

Hmmmm, so the 'stros are getting Tejada... They still need pitching to compete. Hopefully, a Roberts deal to the Cubs isn't too far behind!

To be honest I really only know what everybody else has been hearing and that started last night with the talk of Sean going to the O's for Roberts. I just heard about the Tejada trade at "Cubs.com" and its been a mixed feeling day but its like this every year at this time you never know whats going to happen.

Who's worried? I hope they trade some young pitching for a $13 million man in decline who is currently a below average defender at his position.

I wanna say that the Tejada trade was a precursor for more dealings by the O's. If you look at what the O's got in the deal they got Everett and Burke who play 2B/SS so does this mean that Roberts suddenly became moveable, I would think so as why would they deal for middle infielders. As for Bedard I wasn't implying he was coming to the Cubs but that the O's were going to start dealing.

Honestly, if you're going to blow up your team, do you really want guys like Adam Everett and Chris Burke? You can pick guys like them off the scrap heap prior to the start of the year.

 

If the Orioles are trading Tejada, Roberts and Bedard, they should be looking at prospects that are actually half way decent. When I envision a deal for a Miguel Tejada, I see a package like Brandon Wood and Kendry Morales, most definitely not Adam Everett and Chris Burke.

 

Could you imagine the Orioles dealing off all of these guys and have 7 Chris Burkes and Nick Markakis taking the field everyday? Eeewww.

Hendry needs to go for the Juglar here and pull a Detroit here and make a push for Tejeada/Roberts. Then go get Fukodome signed. Hendry can find a way to make something work I don't think the contracts of Marquis or Dempter are terrible that you couldn't get a team to take a bite. Would you guys be willing to take Millar off there hands for some right handed power off the bench?

A couple people here are talking like Tejada's contract is some sort of burden. Tejada is cheap at that price.

 

Baltimore's been bizarrely desperate to dump Tejada, and unless they have some inside PED info, I really can't figure it out. In earlier Tejada threads, I kept preaching that he was gonna come really cheaply, and even if this deal doesn't go through, he's not gonna cost much. He's the type of guy we actually could get with one of our trademark fantasy spare parts trades. (Theriot, Marshall, Patterson)
