OT in College football is a joke anyway.

No way. College OT is great. The NFL OT is horrible.

LOL. That was the first rushing TD in the game for either team.

If he had been able to just take off with nobody in his way, I think he might have been able to float it over the defenders' heads to the guy a few yards in front of him in the end zone. Unfortunately for them, a lineman got in Woodson's way.

why does every coach in the SEC have an entourage of State Troopers with them (from their own state, mind you)? You'll never see Paterno or any other Big 10 coach with an escort.

Wow. That play had no shot from the get go.

Wait. The personal foul gets enforced in the next OT period because it happened after the play, but the personal foul facemask before didn't because it was during the play?

That needs to be changed immediately. Ridiculous.

True, but the Big 10 coaches do have personal escorts. When Terry Hoeppner died in Indiana, there was an interview done with one of the state troopers who was assigned to escort him to things like press conferences and games.

Harbaugh's getting roasted by the announcers here over this, considering he's a former QB, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt on this, and that they found out there was no concussion or anything, but still this looks bad.

Wow. What were the announcers saying?

Two straight passes dropped in the endzone by Stanford and Notre Dame will win.

Well, Illinois should move up to #15 at least after the carnage this week, pending the Oregon game. If Oregon loses, Illinois should be #14 (moving ahead of Texas and Virginia). Next week's ACC championship could bump the Illini up another spot to 13-14.

EDIT: Also, as of this point, I am rooting for a national championship fiasco of Georgia making it without even playing in its own conference championship game, against Ohio State, a team left for dead 2 weeks ago.

I hope the Illini make a BCS game. However, not sure I want IU to move up a bowl spot. Right now, it seems they'll head to Tempe for the Insight Bowl. I have a place to stay in Phoenix and it's pretty close to Vegas.

Edit: You're going to need a crappy Pitt team to upset West Virginia. Hope it happens, but...

I'll finish for ya.......but rooting for Dave Wannstedt to do something right in the game of football is an exercise in futility.

Some thoughts before the game of the week:

1. The replay official in the Notre Dame game should be fired.

2. USC and Georgia are the two best teams in the nation.

3. The Heisman should be between Pat White, Darren McFadden, and the winning qb in tonight's game if he plays well.

4. Notre Dame will be back in the BCS in 2009 and Jimmy is going to be great.

Wow. Stanford-ND was one of the worst games I have ever watched in every possible facet.

Pathetic offense:

Turnovers in the red zone like crazy, terrible throws by Clausen and Tavita, Stanford missing all 4 of their FG attempts, the dropped passes soccer10k mentioned. Notre Dame took a Hail Mary INT 98 yards back for a TD at the end of the 1st half using a bunch of laterals, only a Trevor Laws personal foul committed before the play nullified all of it.

Pathetic officiating:

On two separate occasions ND and Stanford were flagged by offsetting personal fouls when there was no evidence ND players did anything wrong. A TD catch by David Grimes was reversed on replay even though the ball clearly did not even glance the ground. There were plenty of penalties on both teams that weren't called. On the aforementioned Hail Mary INT play, they gave ND an untimed down after the personal foul for no apparent reason.

Pathetic broadcasting:

For no reason, in the 3rd quarter the broadcasters talked about Jim Harbaugh being the principal owner of an IndyCar championship team and how that compared to Charlie's Super Bowl rings.

Pathetic camerawork:

So many replays were shown that went nowhere near the actual play in question that I almost got sick.

Well, at least we won.

Oh, and Ball State manages to come away scoreless on 3 redzone possessions but still beats NIU 27-21. Should've been a blowout, but now as long as CMU beats Miami in the MAC title game next week, we're guaranteed the International Bowl.

Why Georgia? Not saying I completely disagree with you, but just curious as to why you think so.

Why do you include Pat White yet not even mention Tim Tebow? They're the same type of player but Tebow's stats are better.

Descenzo, I'm with you re: ND in 09 and Jimmy, but man...Jimmy did not play well today. Decent throws on the deep balls, but he wasn't getting rid of the ball under pressure, and when he did he tossed it to a Stanford linebacker. Kudos to the Irish defense for somehow not giving up any points on 4 turnovers.

You know who is gonna be great? Robert Hughes. He's been studly of late.

Why does WV need to be upset? If OSU goes to the NTG, Illinois goes to the Rose Bowl (if they make the BCS). Otherwise, there other likely destination is the Fiesta Bowl (also in Phoenix) if they make the BCS.

oh wait, you said IU, nevermind.

I'm saying Georgia because 5 of their last 6 games have been against teams that are/were ranked at some point this season and none of those teams were within 10 points of them. Moreno and Brown are beasts and Stafford gets better every game he plays. I like them better right now than an LSU team who's been having major problems on defense, a WVU team in a much weaker conference, and tOSU with a laughable schedule. Mizzou is making a case right now though I hadn't seen them that much but they're very athletic.

I have a bias against all things Urban Meyer but I'll try to make a fair case anyways. They don't even compare as runners. I think you have to throw out the majority of Tebow's rushing td's simply because they come from inside 8 yards out. I like to compare it to Texas Tech's qb's, you have to take that stat with a grain of salt. White had 34 less carries and over 200 more yards rushing than Tebow coming into today. White's long run was 64 yards whereas Tebow's was 25. While I don't think they compare as runners they are very similar as passers, the only difference is Tebow gets to do it alot more. Tebow has over 100 more attempts than White. They have the same throwing percentage and yards per attempt and White throws fewer interceptions. Also, Pat White has his team on the verge of the National Championship game while Florida is third in their division.
