The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that LSU should not be given another shot even if the KU/Mizzou winner loses next week and WV loses today. Since the middle of the season, they lost to Kentucky, beat Auburn at the buzzer, had to come back late against Alabama, easy win against La Tech, struggled against Ole Miss, and lost to Arkansas. Even in the 2 games before that, they were in a tight battle with Tulane at halftime and they were a 4th down conversion away from losing to Florida. If it comes down to all flawed 2 loss teams, I think it should be the one who's best right now, and that's not LSU with how they've played their last 7-8 games.

Its amazing how many times I have read that LSU would blow out (you put the name of a team here) in a National Title game. I havent seen evidence of LSU being great since the Va Tech game early in the season. Va Tech was not playing well then either. LSU's hype is based mostly on some people insisting that the SEC is in a different league than other conferences. I think they may be the best overall conference, but not so much better that their teams deserve the huge breaks in the polls that their teams are getting.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I see no evidence -- save the Va Tech game forever ago -- that LSU would blow out any decent team. LSU is good, but there is no reason to believe they'd blow out any upper level bowl team.

BUT THEY ARE IN THE SEC!

Ole Miss has fired idiot head coach Ed Orgeron.

Thank Christ, what a disaster he was. Under his disastrous 3 years, the Rebs went 3-21 in SEC play and overall were 10-26. As head coach, he only beat ONE team that ended up with a winning record that season!

If anyone never saw the "Coach O/Colonel Reb is crying" video that's been referenced on ESPN several times, you should:

and if anyone has never heard this cajun knuckle-dragger speak...behold his horrific "Buy a Hummer" commercial:

It's sort of what you get when you fire a perfectly good coach and hire a psycho wife beater who had never been above a defensive line coach in his career. The good news is Art Kehoe becomes available to hopefully take the Notre Dame o-line job.

Yep. Our AD and Chancellor are complete idiots and have never done anything right. One of their greatest crimes was letting a coach go who was 44-29 overall and 25-23 in the SEC.

By that token you'd probably have to look at USC. They a good victory at home against a solid Oregon State team, went to Cal and beat them, then throttled a good Arizona State team on the road in a game they led 44-17 after 3 quarters. I don't see them overlooking UCLA this year either.

Georgia would also be in there too having won 5 straight including wins at Florida and at home against Auburn and Kentucky going into todays Georgia Tech game. But the thing with Georgia is, with Tennessee up 24-7 at halftime, they won't even play in the SEC title game. I realize that if Oregon wins out, they won't either but I don't see Oregon beating both UCLA and Oregon State without Dixon.

From the Big 12, Oklahoma just lost to Texas Tech.

You could make a case for Virginia Tech but I don't really think they're a very good team.

Well this sucks. Rather than getting UConn-WVU or Georgia-Georgia Tech on ESPN2 right now, I'm stuck with Fresno State-Kansas State.

Never understood why they fired Cutcliffe.

Is this sarcasm? If it is, those numbers are better than anyone ever at Ole Miss besides Vaught so what exactly do you want?

I'm glad to see some fans have reasonable expectations for their program. We can't all be USC, Ohio State or Florida.

Woodson couldn't stop overthrowing on that drive. It nearly cost him a first down and now it might've cost them the game. The receiver was wide open, but the throw made him leave his feet.

Vandy was called a good team here last week after some people ripped Tennesee for nearly losing to them. Now that Tennesee is once again trying to lose to an average team and Vandy is losing to Wake, is Vandy still good?

More great playcalling:

UCLA opts to throw the ball on 3rd and 4th and 1 from the Oregon 42 rather than run the ball and fails on both opportunities. Good job Dorrell.

Pat White is really fast. 31-14 WV.

I'm so pissed that I'm stuck with Kansas State-Fresno State right now on ESPN2 instead of this game or Georgia-Georgia Tech.
