True, but this is basically a big push in the argument that he's all about the money. Granted, the Yankees are still the Yankees and could win it, but some other competitive teams could have given him a good chunk of change (at least $20 million per for 10-12 years) where him being there could have very easily pushed them over the top.

Or it supports the notion that Boras was driving him to take more money, and he decided enough was enough and he wanted to win in NY.

A-Rod reported talking personally to the Steinbummers on his website. I think it is all B.S. because no one is going over 10/275. So he tucked his tail, kissed some butt and is just trying to bring the Yankees along (ala Greg Maddux) to drive up the price for Aneheim or L.A.

The problem with that is I don't see it working unless Anaheim or LA come right back and offer something huge. If it's a charage, he's not going to be able to keep it going long.

"charage"?

Forget it, he's rolling.

Sorry, charade.

For anybody thinking Bruno is a credit whore, espnnews is running a note saying Len Pasquirelli is reporting Rex Grossman will start, even though the Bears officially announced it themselves over an hour ago and everybody else is also reporting the story.

Please note my post was an attempt at humor, not trying to be a dyck van [expletive].

Well I laughed at my own stupidity, so the attempt was successful.

Per Rotoworld:

Alex Rodriguez confirmed on his website that he's hopeful of remaining with the Yankees.

"After spending time with (wife) Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization," A-Rod says in a statement. "Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness. As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. ... During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days." So, A-Rod wants this and all indications are that the Yankees do as well. This might be wrapped up by the end of the week.

Translation: "I want $350m and the Yankees are the only team rich enough to give it to me."

How bad are the Rangers laughing right now. Arod gets richer and stays on the Yankees, but the Rangers are off the hook for the money they owed. Sure looks like it works out well for them.

They probably shouldn't laugh too loud, because they still suck.

So, Boras did the Rangers a favor by getting ARod to opt out. Does that now mean that the Rangers owe Boras a favor, i.e., sign his client, Andruw Jones, to an over-rated/over-inflated contract?

If I were the Yankees, which I'm not, but if I were. I would offer what ARod had left on his original deal + 5/150 reported extension - 27 Million for what the Rangers would have been on the hook for had he not opted out............. and not a penny more.

Sounds like 10 years for $275 million.

Wow. A measily 25m bump from his original contract. Someone will come along and beat that soon enough, and boy won't ARod be upset. :D

Easily the biggest story of the offseason for me. The Cubs rumors are just blah. He's on pace to go down as one of the greatest ever, possibly the greatest and the Cubs haven't even batted an eye. The only time you hear Arod and Cubs in the same sentence - the Cubs are a largemark team and have the resources to make a deal.

I really hope you're wrong BbB, but I've thought the same thing. If true, I'm gonna loose a lot of respect for my favorite ballplayer. Here's what I hope. Boras promised a deal for Arod that just isn't there. Well it was there and Boras passed it up. I think Arod would have welcomed a change of scenery, but this is looking like Boras is finally getting stood up by MLB teams. Arod going to the negotiating table without Boras?

I really hope I'm not let down over the outcome here.

You will be disappointed. This is nothing more than BorA$$ covering his and A-Rods behinds. He told A-Rod to opt out and go for 350+. It didn't work, so he told A-Rod to reach out and nab the Yankees. And for all the rhetoric spouted by Hank Stienbrenner, the Yankees have apparently caved. BorA$$ got the Yankees to pull a Tom Hicks and basically bid against themselves and give A-Rod a 10 year 290 Million (reported on yankees.com) deal. He did this while no team was going to give A-Rod 10 years or more than 25 per. The Yanks could have bullied A-Rod into the reasonable contract of 8/200-220, but NO. They are giving him a BACKLOADED 10 year deal that will be a monstrous burden in 7-8 years.

BORAS IS A GENIOUS. Again shooting off is mouth and just when you thought it was time he got his, WHAM another biggest contract ever.

Oh, and YES, A-Rod douched the Yanks and Baseball with his "LOOK AT ME" opt out, and yet he gets a raise. What a world. Tomorrow everyone should go give their boss the finger, and then wait two days and go back and say "Sorry, can I have a raise?" Let's see what happens.

ESPN was saying 10/220 last time I heard. Rodriguez is an ass if he went ahead and negotiated without Boras. Thanks for the help Scott, oh by the way see ya later, and I'll be taking your commission with me. And yeah, I know it's sacrilege to feel bad for Boras, but it's a bogus move to pull if the story is as reported where he's ceding to the Yankees demands that Boras not be involved in the negotiations.

I've always been very pro A-Rod and the NY media and fans have been disgraceful towards him, but he needs to get over this wanting to be loved thing. Go out and do your thing, go be Barry Bonds if you have to and be surly to everyone, don't come to me with this public half apology on your website. They're never going to love you there, and if you can't handle that then don't go back.

So did his wife forgive him for boning that other chick? :?:

Oh and I would be giddy over the NY media, the Steinbrenner spawn, and St. Jeter all saying how they love Arod, and what a great guy he is, and how much they need him, only to have Rodriguez go to Anaheim. Not gonna happen, but it sure would be cool.

Oh and the Rangers suck.

A-Rod approached the Yanks without Boras. The Yanks can not talk money to a player without his agent present, per the CBA. Boras is involved, but only as an advisor. Don't feel sorry for Boras, he will still get his money.

The deal bounces around 10/220 to 10/290, depending on who reports it. I also heard 10/260. So I will wait for the press conference to pass judgement. But here are my options, 10/220-235 Hank wins, 10/250 push 10/260-290 Hank is an ass.
