I'm privately seething because Ball State's non-con next year is Northeastern and Navy at home, and Western Kentucky and Indiana on the road.

Meaning that only IU and Central Michigan would be games in which the Cardinals would likely be underdogs, and a 10-win season - or more - is very possible. And I'm graduating in May so I'll miss it.

Andy graduating college feels weird.

Also, I'd lay a lot of money down on the under for Ball State getting 10 wins next year.

Oh yeah, here's this Mizzou gem:

In 1941, Missouri played Fordham in the Sugar Bowl. Mizzou lost 2-0.

Who the hell is Fordham?

One of those schools that sounds like it's Ivy and is in the Ivy league area, but it's not Ivy. I thought about going there for awhile.

So would I, since our coach is a moron and will probably coach us out of 2 or 3 wins next year, just as he did this year with Miami (OH). The talent will be there though, just about everyone worth anything on this year's team will return in 2008.

Anybody ever look at bowl projection stuff.

Found a lot of potential matchups very interesting.

IU vs. Miami(OH) in the Motor City- The Late Coach Hep Bowl

Texas vs. USC in the Holiday- national title game for 2 years ago

Houston vs. UK- offense and more offense

Florida State vs. So Carolina- Bowden vs. Spurrier

Penn ST. vs. Florida- 2 closely ranked teams.....talent level (read: speed) not in the same ballpark

Michigan vs. Oregon in the Rose- would anybody really want to see this again?

Ball State should be in there. Toledo and NIU are games Ball State should win, get to 7-5 and get the bowl invite.

i've been predicting PSU vs. FLA ever since FLA got its 3rd loss. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they met in either the Capitol One (if PSU can get 3rd place) or the Outback

Florida would destroy Penn State and you know it.

oh, no doubt. this Penn State team is not built to deal with SEC speed at all. I don't think it would even be close

oh, found this funny. Paterno sounds like the Joe Morgan of College Football:

re: Scouting high school prospects

Can they play? It's not a -- you guys take this as an exact science; it isn't. I had an interesting conversation with the people who did the television for the game on Saturday. Friday morning I spent time with them. I said, "You know, everybody wants you to say what does it take to do this, what's it take to do that?" You know, it's intangibles.

Some people can play, some people can't. You can get a guy that's 6 3, 235, 240 pounds, he runs like the dickens, is all over the place. He's not a good football player; he's a heck of an athlete. You think he's going to be a good football player, but he's not. There are guys that know how to play the game.

You have to make sure when you're coaching that you don't overlook some guy who is a player because he doesn't have - we've got pros (scouts) up here this week. They're all out there with clocks and that stuff, and to me that's bologna. Some guys can play. Dan Connor -- I looked at half a tape of Connor when he was in high school, and everybody was raving about him.

And I said, "He's a good player. Let's see if we can get him." Sean Lee, same thing. I get a kick out of the recruiters. "Well, he moves his hips this way, and he comes off the ball this way," and all that kind of stuff. It drives me nuts. They haven't got the slightest idea what it takes to be a good football player.

You've just got to evaluate a kid on whether he's a player. He makes plays, he's around the ball, he knows how to drop his rear end when he's going to tackle and things like that. There's no one -- I couldn't tell you exactly how we get guys. I know that when it comes down to the clutch, every once in a while they'll say, "Hey, Joe, look at this kid." And I look at the tape, and I'll say, "No," or, "Yeah, I like him. Go get him!"

(Anthony) Scirrotto was that way. He wasn't a highly recruited kid, and they were debating whether we wanted to get him. I looked at the tape, and he played a little basketball, and I said, "Hey, go get him." Why did I say that? The Good Lord is the only one who knows why I said it, because I haven't the slightest idea why I said it.

i also heard him on his call in show today and caught it in the middle of him explaining why he thought football should get rid of face-masks. i wish i'd heard all of it

pat white is a great college qb, but he definitely attended the "john navarre school of staring down your intended receiver from the minute the snap hits your hands"

White's a great spread option QB. His problem always has been that he isn't very good throwing the ball - whether the problem is staring down a receiver or just simply not being accurate. He's perfect for Rich Rodriguez's system (and thus a great college QB, I guess), but is also a perfect candidate to move to wide receiver in the NFL, though.

By the way, this game has turned great. Too bad it ended on an intercepted hail mary. Louisville looked awful on that final drive.

Im having a hard time figuring out how Michigan will get a Rose Bowl berth with a loss to OSU. They are currently ranked 12th in the BCS, even if they beat Wisconsin, a loss to OSU will drop them out of the top 12 and probably top 16. The Rose Bowl would have the first or second selection since the champ of the B10 is in the NCG and they would select a low ranked Michigan(is that even possible) ahead of others to play in a rematch game (Oregon gets the auto)? No way.

Michigan needs to beat Ohio State to go the Rose Bowl bottom line. They can even lose this week for all that matters, they wouldnt be ranked very high going into the Rose Bowl but they would be there nonetheless.

I think it'd be more interesting to see an Illinois/Florida game than a PSU/Florida game, if only for the Zook angle. Not that the outcome would be different.

could be, but how locked in are the non-BCS bowls to their conference/place of finish tie-ins?

Oh, not at all, after the BCS bowls. "Big Ten #3" basically means "the 3rd-most interesting Big Ten team".

And barring a miracle Illinois is finishing in 3rd place in the Big Ten anyways.
