Pacers beat the Magic to get back to .500. They may not be great, but at least they aren't as bad as everyone thought. O'Brien's doing a great job.

Pretty solid win for the Bulls tonight. If we can somehow beat the Celtics tomorrow, I'll be feeling much better about this team.

And Duhon showed his worth once again in the 4th quarter tonight.

Skiles has finally gotten over his mancrush of Kirk, and finally started playing the better player in this season. Kirk has been abysmal, and really has no business starting right now.

So if the Bulls put together a run to the playoffs, is everyone going to be so overjoyed that they forget, once again, what losing 10 of their first 12 did to their playoff seeding?

I want improvements to this team -- it's not going to end better than it has in previous years without a major change, and I'm not satisfied with another 2nd round ouster from the playoffs. With the lack of any real improvements to the team over the past 2 years, I have to wonder if the Bulls are happy with this. Maybe they just don't care to win it all. Too hard, and the seats still fill with the current club.

I see Tyrus Thomas got a DNP last night..what a freakin joke. And I'm not throwing this all on Tyrus...yeah, maybe part of it is his fault, but it seems like Skiles is trying to destroy the kid(just like Chandler). The faster both Paxson and Skiles are out of Chicago..the better.

Hey, he doesn't "hustle" enough, remember?

Maybe Skiles and Hendry should get together and discuss the finer points of "grit" and "hustle"

These NBA TV announcers during the Warriors-Lakers game are incredibly annoying. At least half the time they call the players by their first names rather than the last names. Instead of saying 'Bynum with the rebound' they say 'Andrew with the rebound'. It's 'Lamar' instead of 'Odom'.

by the way, kudos to david stern for letting everyone know that players need to conduct themselves well off the court, but if a head coach, say, sexually harasses women to the point where they sue him and his employer, and costs them more than $11M, that's okie dokey.

Bulls put 67 point on Seattle.....in the first half!

yeah seattle is horrendous though

That they are, but I'll still take the big win. I think this was our first game of the year where we got over 100 points.

Bulls were shooting 39.8% on the year coming in. That is beyond ugly. Maybe tonight will get them going offensively. 7-12 is not good, but once again, they're climbing out of the early hole they dug for themselves

TJ Ford landed on his head/back tonight and was taken off on the court on a stretcher. It's deja vu for him. Hopefully this isn't serious and he can make a full recovery.

Only if all the other NBA teams agree to play as horribly as the Sonics.

No seriously, I expect them to do what they always do -- pull back into it and then lose in an earlier round of the playoffs.

Jim O'Brien is a very good coach, I was very pleased when he was hired. Of course, they're not going to the NBA Finals or anything, but they should hover around .500 and squeak into the bottom of the playoffs. They have some nice young pieces: Granger, Williams, Dunleavy (warts and all), Diogu, etc.

Looking at stats right now, the biggest indictment on Paxson (IMO) is the whole Chandler for JR Smith/signing Ben Wallace fiasco.

Some numbers:

Chandler: 11.3 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 1.4 bpg

Smith: 10.9 ppg, 2.2 apg, 2.3 rpg

Wallace: 5.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg

We sign a younger, cheaper, better version of Wallace (Chandler) for a decent guard (Smith) who we just get rid of, then sign bad Wallace (Wallace) for huge cash and he sucks.

It's a further indictment for Skiles and co. that Chandler never flourished under them.

The Chandler move turned out to be terrible.

The biggest indictment of the Skiles/Pax regime in my mind is that their "we'll build it on grit instead of superstars" plan has clearly peaked at a 2nd round exit. Now they're declining, there is no doubt.

The Paxson plan has been proven to be inadequate in today's NBA. Sorry Pax, but you're gonna need a superstar.

Yes, even if said superstar doesn't always see eye-to-eye with the coach. You still are going to need one. Time to deal with it, and get moving on Kobe or whomever.

I couldn't have said it any better. Great post.

..and what's really becoming frustrating is, when you look at it, you start to realize: Paxson himself experienced no success at all in the NBA without a superstar. He rode the coattails of one his entire career. He, of all people, has little or no right to expect that this "grit" plan will work. He must know -- from firsthand knowledge -- that it ultimately cannot.
