J.R. Smith for Howard Eisley. I still can't figure that one out.

Well if you really want to break it down it comes out to more like:

JR Smith for Adrian Griffin (since we waived Eisley's non guaranteed deal, we signed Griffin), Aaron Gray, and JamesOn Curry

Okay so Adrian Griffin isn't exciting. And JamesOn Curry may never amount to anything. But I'll take Gray over Smith. Supposedly the Nuggets have tried to move Smith and found no takers.

What if Gordon walks? J.R. is a surefire 15 PPG player if he gets starter's PT.

15ppg and not much else.

Plus Gordon isn't going to walk for nothing. I'd take my chances that we can get back something better than Smith in a Gordon sign and trade.

You're romantisizing what Smith brings to the table. He'd be fine in a Jannero Pargo role.

And hey if Gordon does walk and we want Smith we could probably offer a contract barely over the minimum and get him. Yay.

It's been said many time, many ways, but JR Smith is NOT a John Paxson player. He didn't even want JR Smith in the Chandler deal, but had to take him due to contracts having to match. All things being equal, Smith would still be in New Orleans (or possibly waived by now).

With that said, Shannon Brown is every bit as talented as JR Smith, all Shannon is needing is the opportunity.

I like Shannon Brown, but J.R. Smith went out and got 43 points last night. Does Shannon have that many points in his career yet? Obviously Smith has some value as a guy who can score.

Has Shannon Brown have the opportunity to play, yet? Just because Cleveland's coach is an idiot, doesn't mean Brown can't play. I still take Brown over Smith any day.

No he hasn't. But, when he hasn't been able to beat out some of the guys Cleveland were using it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

No it doesn't. I realize due to contract, Hughes will start (and IMO, both Hughes and Gordon will be dealt in the offseason), but Brown is easily the best attacking guard (I realize how pathethic that is, I just typed), the best athletic guard we have. And if the Bulls are planning to play the uptempo high fly style that we saw last night, then having a Shannon Brown will be a welcome site to the Bulls. Brown can go (in the mold of a Jason Richardson) it's up to Boylan to give him the opportunity.

well, i've decided i like this bulls team, a lot.

they are athletic, they are versatile, they are still young.

even without deng, this team is good. hopefully, gooden gives us that ability to score in the paint that we haven't had since curry.

Great first game for the Cavs with their newcomers. Sure it was only a home game against Memphis, but Wallace got 12 and 10 on 5 of 6 shooting, Smith had 14 and 6 on 6 of 8 shooting, Wally hit a couple treys for 10 points, and West had 6 assists and 3 steals.

Putting aside the Rockets' insane 3-point shooting, the Bulls played alright tonight. Wins or not, I like watching this team way more than the Wallace-infected one.

I just wanted to point out that on 2/11, Cro Magnon identified Hinrich as a leadfoot who would be a turnover machine in a fast-paced offense.

In the five games since that day, Hinrich has compiled 38 assists vs. 9 TO, with 15 and 10 assists in each of the last two games (when, presumably, they've been more athletic.) If you're curious, he registered 2 TOs in each of those games.

Yes, sample size. I know. But it's an interesting trend to watch. Just as it will be interesting to see how his performance changes as he plays more PG (and defends more PG) as opposed to being forced to play and defend the 2.

i will say that drew gooden looks like he's added some weight, though.

possibly. he may have a basketball gnome or something living in his magic beard. but he looks chunky and heavy-fotted to me.

he plays angry, though, which i like. he went for 12 points and 8 boards in 25 minutes. Hughes had 13 on 6-11 shooting.

Hughes took good shots tonight. Really I don't have a complaint about any of the Bulls except Aaron Gray, who was no good at defending Yao - but not many unathletic guys with a 6-inch height disadvantage will be.

Looks like Kidd has finally settled in with his new teammates. After an atrocious first game, he dished out 15 assists in his second game, and today he had 12 points, 7 boards, 17 assists. I like.

Yeah. Too bad those two games were against Memphis and Minnesota. Kidd is still going to get out-played by any team with a good point guard and will get annihilated by any team with a great point guard just like he did against New Orleans.

On the same token of looking at the quality of opponents, as much as I think the Shaq trade hurts the Suns, I hate that a semi big deal was made out of the fact that the Suns are 1-2 with Shaq in the lineup. Nevermind that the Suns had to play the top two teams in the East and the top team in the West in those three games. I realize that all three games were in Phoenix but still. There's no such thing as a guaranteed win against a top team in the league regardless of where you're playing.

On the Lakers' front, they have an eight game winning streak (and 11 of 12) and are playing extremely well right now. Optimistically, there's no reason the winning streak should stop any time soon. Their next 8 games are vs. Portland, vs. Miami, at Portland, vs. Dallas, at Sacramento, vs. LA Clippers, vs. Sacramento, vs. Toronto. The only back-to-back in that stretch is vs. Miami/at Portland. The Dallas game is at home so that should be a win.

Realistically, I expect them to lose one or two of the games. Most likely would be at Portland because it's the second night of a back-to-back and the Dallas game.

So even if they went 6-2 in that stretch - which would be a bit of a disappointment - that would mean a total of 17 wins out of 20. Oh, and they have the best record in the West right now. \:D/

Interesting comment. Seems some are more than a little suspicious that Ben was dogging it.
