I agree with you Ohio St sentiment Cubweiser. I absolutely think they could beat LSU on a neutral field. I also think that they would give Oregon and Oklahoma good games and would not get blown out.

When's the last time an SEC team was playing on a neutral field for a bowl game?

Posted
It was already touched on earlier, albeit briefly, but if KU and OSU go undefeated they'll have to beat the 2nd and 3rd place teams in their respective conferences to do it. (Illinois, Michigan) (Mizzou, Oklahoma) If they run the table, I think they'll both deserve it. That said, I think both lose one and it winds up OU vs. OU after LSU chokes it in the SEC title game to a not great SEC East team. The SEC gauntlet complaining will be heard for miles.

at this point I'll be rooting for OSU to beat Illinois, if only to solidify PSU at 3rd place

Go Illinois next week and go Michigan in two weeks.

I'm shocked WV is ranked as high as they are due to the coaches always voting the BE team with the same record as any other BCS conference lower as they did with the rest of the teams.

a bit surprised arkansas didn't get more votes. kentucky got back in after their impressive performance saturday.

Their bye week?

They were more impressive this week than the week before losing to Miss. St.

Well we'd still have the head to head tiebreaker against you if we beat NU, not that I think that matters for anything besides the outright title. But still, it's nice to know we'd have to choke to not have a 3rd place finish.

LSU now controls their own destiny again.

If they can stop the mental mistakes, they should be able to win out.

Not sure if that's true. IF KU and OSU win out, I think they'll play for the title. I think an undefeated KU would leapfrog Oregon and LSU in the polls. Not saying they're a better team, but I think it would happen.

KU almost definitely won't win out though if they don't get their D back in order.

You might be right, but rarely (not never, but rarely) does a team drop in the polls unless they lose. I think the computers combined with the polls will keep LSU in the second spot if they win out. If LSU wins out, they will add a win over Arkansas as well as whoever they beat in the SEC championship. I think that will be enough.

It's not as rare as you might think. I need look back only as far as...today to see an example. We leapfrogged WV this week. And this is the exact type of situation where a leapfrogging is likely to occur. Right now, the voters are very dubious of KU. So they'll keep them behind the heavy-hitters (Oregon, OU, LSU), essentially waiting for them to lose or prove themselves. Victories over 2 top 10 teams will likely be enough to win over enough skeptical voters who are simply waiting for them to lose.

The whole scenario is really unlikely anyway, but it's fun for me to think about. We'll have our hands full at OSU this weekend with that high-powered offense, and Mizzou is walking around just sally-slapping teams on the road. We could easily lose both of those games.

KU will have added 2 wins better than that in that timeframe.

I think if Kansas runs the table - which would require beating Missouri and likely Oklahoma - the voters would bump them ahead of LSU and Oregon and into the No. 2 spot (or No. 1 if Ohio State loses).

Yet for some reason that is more impressive than FSU beating BC (at BC).

4. Mike Hart

5. Sam Bradford

Aside from complete homerism, what is the justification for having Florida #7? And ahead of Georgia and Auburn, for that matter.

There is no reason. Just remember, this is who you are dealing with.

Far right column.

You don't seem to put much faith in the far right column otherwise. West Virginia is 2 spots ahead of LSU in that far right column, but you have LSU 6 spots ahead of WV. Michigan is only 21st in that far right column, but you have them 10th. The far right column has Boston College at 24th, but you have them 9th. Why are you willing to trust the far right column when it gives Florida a good ranking, but not when it is so far off for half of the other teams in your top 10?
