Tenn. down 6 to Vandy with 3 minutes to go. Vandy going for 4 straight wins over the #1 team in the country. 8 point lead now :-).

Honestly, who didn't see this coming?

Tennessee is about as convincing a #1 team as South Florida was a #2 in CFB

Yeah I saw it coming too. Tennessee is a little more convincing than South Florida, but timing is everything in rankings.

I was coming on to post the exact same thing.

Dan Dakich needs to invest in a toupee. His huge bald spot is mesmerizing.

I think it's buzz-cut time for Dan. Has been for awhile. What a shiny dome that is.

I use mine to shine in the other teams eyes when they are batting.

This should get the Illini faithful posting in this thread again.

I think what the great majority of the media doesn't understand is that it's largely not the fact that Gordon changed his mind that upset the Illinois fans, it was the fact that he denied he was doing so right up to signing day, leaving Illinois recruiting with absolutely nothing. If he had openly stated he was reconsidering his options when he actually started reconsidering his options, Illinois would have had time to recruit other players to fill the space if he left. Reneging on signing day meant Illinois had absolutely nothing there and nothing in the pipeline.

Anyway, to lighten the mood, any time I get sick of this current squad, I just go back and watch this game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTbE4eC-AIc.

Yes, this is the most annoying part of the whole deal. The inaccuracy in the reporting on why the Illini fans are so pissed is nearly criminal.

I didn't even realize that that was Stan's kid.

He's supposedly a nut in his own right. He pulled a lot of VERY questionable stuff with Kevin's high school coach, including accusing him of being a racist and placing signage around the high school urging the coach's termination after he sat Kevin for missing a practice.

Yep...I've dealt with dads like that before. They're your buddy until their son steps out of line and then they turn on you full force and quite out of left field so to speak. Not quite that nutty but we had a father in a parking lot watching with binochulors (sp) and writing things down as we practiced and reported it to the AD. He made up some ridicules stuff too.

One of my favorite Stan Love stories:

In early January, the Loves asked Shoff for more playing time for their older son, Collin, a 6-3 reserve forward who was a junior last season.

“I said for family chemistry and dynamics, there would be nothing we would enjoy more than to see Kevin and Collin play together,” Stan says. “Frankly, Collin was as good as anyone on the team other than Kevin. They said, ‘You can’t tell us what to do.’ ”

It should be noted that the Loves weren't the only parents unhappy with the coach, though I don't think that mitigates their craziness much.

That's pretty good! "Hey, our family sure would like you to play our sons....my daughters 8, maybe she could play point for a while, we'd get a kick out of it!"

i would like our basketball team to be good again

Yeah that was fun. I may have had the best 4 year run to be in school for though, so there's that.

PS, I'll be in Champaign this weekend, sleep with one eye open.

if anybody punches you in the back of the head and runs away before you can do anything, it was me

I believe he sat Kevin for missing school (for being "sick"...heh) on the day of the game, not practice. Weirdest thing is that now Stan and the Lake Oswego coach are buddy buddy.

Sickening loss at Penn State for Iowa. Not that they cost us the game (that was Gorney getting absolutely abused by Cornley) but if anyone can watch the final 5 minutes of that game and tell me that Big Ten officials aren't incompetent cowards, I'd love an explanation. That was after they fouled Tate out of the game with some weak calls and one of the worst charge calls I've ever seen.

I don't get why the conference doesn't try to fix it up. They have to know how poor a job the officials do.

gordon's dad shouldn't be discussing any moral issues. doesn't he work for sales in a pharmaceutical company? in other words he makes his living stealing sick people's money with overpriced drugs. cant wait for his son to be sitting on some NBA bench next year so we can stop hearing about them!

i think a lot of people would take issue with your characterization of their line of work.
