Those players, particulalry DJ White, ought to be ashamed of themselves. They have sold out their teammates and decided to have a pity party for themselves. I hope that NBA teams are watching this. What a bunch of jerks.
Whoa; calling them a bunch of jerks is going way overboard. They reacted to a tough situation emotionally rather than logically. That makes them human, not jerks. They shouldn't have skipped practice; I'm not denying that. However, they did all reportedly show up for last night's walk-through. Had they followed through on their threats then maybe stronger criticism would be warranted. However, I don't think they can be faulted for showing support for their coach, even though the way they did so was misguided.

I disagree. They could have showed their support any number of ways that would have expressed their frustration but not made them look like petulant children. How about a short statement to the media? A letter? An e-mail? If they can't be trusted to control their emotions (in part, a sign of maturity), then they could have spoken through their parents/guardians.

The long and the short of it is: they acted stupidly and aligned themselves with a cheater.

I stand by my comments. I'm not disputing that what they did was wrong. What I am disputing is that letting their emotions get the best of them doesn't make them jerks. We're all human, and we all do stupid things at times and react emotionally rather than rationally. That doesn't make us jerks.

I agree we all let our emotions get the best of us. It happens, and it does not make us any worse than anyone else.

However, what they did reveals a major flaw in their characters, IMO. They essentialy threatened to abandon their teammates and the school because they did not get their way. That indisputably arrogant behavior makes them jerks, IMO.

We may be basically in agreement but just arguing semantics over the word "jerk." To me that word implies that somebody is a bad person. That's not the case here. They did something they shouldn't have, but everybody does at times. That doesn't make them bad people.

UConn finally lost one of those close games (they were all kinds of due), so ND is now 3rd by themselves in the Big East. A win vs Syracuse tomorrow and the Irish can keep pace with Louisville and Georgetown.

holy crap westbrook for UCLA

Wow.

I'm disappointed in you two. Clearly watching the game and not commenting on Oregon's new unis?

Thank goodness they got their heads out of their asses in the second half, I was afraid this would be a Washington redux.

And Westbrook is a freak. Wow.

Wow, I thought that was going to rim in for Rush as the fans were clearly ready to storm the court.

Tough loss.

boy, pearl to IU would be the one hire that could really drive the UI folks nuts.

What did Richmond do to get kicked off his team?

Well he has been in trouble twice this year before this came out. Once for fighting with a teammate, once for missing a game for familiy reasons, then this. I would assume it is just three strikes he is gone and nothing major. But, since no one has came out and said the main reason yet, it is just an assumption.

Wasnt the reason for missing a game due to a family members death out of state, but he was still disciplined? Or am I not remembering that correctly.

It would fit in nicely w/ IU's tendency to hire dirt bags.

Yeah it was, but i think the coach was mad about the way Jereme handled it. I think it was he didn't let him know why, he just said I am not going to be there.

Still seems like a pretty bs reason to discipline a kid.

Maybe IU should have practiced on Friday. They sure are struggling tonight.

I attended the IPFW-IUPUI game tonight. It was a fun game to watch. Dane Fife's boys came up short 88-81 in OT. Seems like the program is slowly getting better year by year. It would be awesome to see the Mastodons in the NCAA tourney one day.

Yep. The MVC really did its part today in the TV games with Drake winning that game, Creighton beating Oral Roberts at ORU, and SIU beating Nevada by 25. Very good day for the conference.

And as for us, four wins in a row and we looked awesome today against a decent Nevada team. Very impressed by the way we played today. Now our true test is going to come on Tuesday when we travel to Bradley for a huge late-season matchup in conference play.
