I think Clemson will feel a lot of pressure to break the streak because it seems like such a golden opportunity. Because of that, I think UNC wins.

Oh, and Washington is the worst FT shooting team I've ever seen.

Wait till you watch the Clemson game tonight, they will blow your mind.

Someone send out a search party for Darren Collison, I think he got lost in Pullman.

UCLA just cost themselves a 1-seed. Good job guys.

Not necessarily, but they can't lose again.

Memphis is the only team w/ one sewn up.

Duke just needs to beat UNC to lock one up, even though they are vastly overrated.

That leaves UNC/UCLA/KU/Tennessee/maybe GTown fighting over the last 2. If each of them drop one more UCLA might get one based on strength of schedule. Or they'll get the #2 in the west like last year (RIP OFF), screwing the one seed there.

I'm just disappointed with the lack of heart displayed today by this team. Especially Collison. Mata-Real and Westbrook looked like the only ones who cared out there. Now the backs are against the wall and I can't see UCLA running the table the rest of the way. This was a horrible loss no matter what. You can't lose to sub-100 RPI teams.

Snood, did you see that inbound play in the final minute where the Washington guy wound up and intentionally threw it off Aboya's head? Am I too biased or should that have been some sort of foul (technical?)?

It was a full wind up and overhand baseball heave right into ABoya's face. It was certainly unnecessary.

Well, I don't know the official rules on that inbounds play. My instinct said it had to be a foul or something. I mean, you could break a guy's nose that way. But when I think about it, he has a right to try to bounce it off the defender. But his face? It seems like you shouldn't be able to purposely throw the ball at his face. (Though it's within the rules in baseball when you're turning a double play.) But how can you ref that? I dunno. I waffle. It was pretty bogus, though, and Aboya handled it like a man.

Ohio State will get in the NCAA tournament, but boy oh boy, they are not good. They completely screwed up every opportunity they had to get back in the game today.

What makes you think we are vastly ovverrated? Because we do not have a really good post player? We played Carolina, Clemson, and Wisconsin whose strengths are all heavily on the inside and won all three of them and blew out Wisconsin. And Lance Thomas is starting to come on, he had 10 points against UNC.

Clemson up 9 with 2 and a half to go, but its already back down to 5 with 2 mins to go. Clemson is last in the ACC at free-throw shooting, with their best guard shooting 38% there. UNC always finds a way to come back and this is really bugging me, that Clemson cannot hold on to a double digit lead with less than 5 to go without Lawson playing.

Bob Knight had his Indiana teams do that exact thing many times against Iowa when we had the full court press with Dr. Tom. I remember Settles and a couple others getting a bloody nose and having to leave the game. There were also at least a couple of instances when they threw it right into the guys crotch at full speed.

They never called anything but I couldn't figure it out. When it's deliberate and risks or many times results in injury, how can there not be a call?

I'd say KU is close to having a No. 1 seed locked up. I mean, after Memphis, it's them and Duke as the only 1 loss teams from a major conference. UNC and Tennessee each have two while Georgetown and UCLA each have three. UNC (at Duke in the regular season and potentially another meeting in the ACC tournament) and Tennessee (at Memphis) both have a game left on the schedule that they'll be guaranteed underdogs in. Kansas does play at Texas, at Texas A&M and vs. Kansas State but they shouldn't be underdogs in those games.

By no means is KU getting a No. 1 seed a lock but I would say that Duke and KU are ahead of all the other teams out there with the exception of Memphis.

With UCLA down 66-61 with 47 seconds left because the Huskies had squandered much of a nine-point lead at the foul line, Washington's Tim Morris was about to get called for a five-second violation on an inbound play. Instead, he threw the ball off the nose of Alfred Aboya, who was guarding him closely across the boundary line, and it banged into an incensed UCLA bench.

"He just threw it off the kid's face," UCLA coach Ben Howland said of Morris' sneaky trick.

When asked if that is OK, perhaps by the unwritten code of how to play the game, Howland shot back, "No."

"The official said there is nothing he can do," Howland said. "So I guess legally you can do it."

I'm sure Tim Morris knew that Aboya had two broken bones in his face. I hope we get these clowns in the Pac-10 tourney.

(This doesn't excuse my extreme disappointment in the effort these guys showed today. It's one thing to make mental and physical errors and lose while trying; it's completely different when the effort and toughness is lacking - whether you win or lose.)

I'll admit that Purdue is better than Ohio St. now. MSU and Wisconsin are both better than them, and IU probably is too.

Its funny that Purdue took a page out of the UW book to beat them twice this season. They hustle, they're deep, they're versatile, don't make many mistakes, and they get in your face defensively. Seems like a team that will have trouble in a more closely called NCAA tourney game. They have a clear edge in the title race, being they only have 3 tough games left vs. MSU and on the road at IU and OSU. MSU has to go on the road to the other top B10 teams and has IU at home. Wisc. only has 3 more at home and 1 is MSU. IU has 5 tough games left, but 4 of them at are home.

Purdue is gonna be a very touch matchup for IU, because they do a lot of the same things well that IU does well (shoot the 3, FTs, run the floor). The difference will be the major differences, Purdue's defense, IUs rebounding.

I think it all comes down to the Calasan vs D.J. White match up. Can Calasan contain him defensively enough that he won't go nuts on the interior and can Calasan get his 3point shot going enough that it spreads IU's defense out?

Calasan is no match for DJ. He does have some size, but he's weak on the boards, has no offensive game, and is foul prone. After him, their only "big" is 6'10", 210lb Johnson, who would get destroyed. I don't worry about a big man shooting the 3 with the zone we've been playing. In fact, I'd dare Calasan to shoot all night.

I do worry about the slashing and them being able to get DJ in foul trouble on some help defense.

Calasan does like to bang inside though. So we'll see how effective he can be. Calasan won't be shooting all night but he will be one of many 3 point threats on the floor.

Yeah, they've had a couple lack of effort games this year. No sense of urgency yesterday.

Kansas at Texas tonight. Texas has to play much much better tonight to have any shot even at home. They tend to play Kansas well, but this is their best team in a while. A win tonight would be huge towards their resume with wins over UCLA and Tennessee.

Wonder if it's like how Florida sort of sleepwalked through the season last year. Some of these guys have been to 2 straight FFs, no? Maybe they are just having trouble getting up for the regular season.

Man, KU's been so flat the last few weeks. I'm pretty worried.

Yeah, 3 of the players have only been to 1 FF and 2 have never been (the sophomores and freshmen, respectively). Florida had all their best players back from winning a championship and still managed a 1-seed. The Bruins have no right to be going through the motions.

At least Collison and Shipp (even though Shipp played well) stepped up and took blame and knew the intensity and effort were majorly lacking.

Texas has been flat for the past month with the exception of the Texas Tech game. If they can establish anything inside I think they have a slight chance.
