It is at this point that I submit that I was shredded for even suggesting a possibility that Purdue was the best team in the Big Ten - and now they're 10-1 and a game or more up on everybody.

It was just a mere two weeks ago that IU fans were telling me that Purdue will get crushed in their only meeting this year. I think they're starting to sweat a little bit now.

I still have a hard time buying into the Purdue thing since they struggled against my hawkeyes at Purdue, who are very bad.

The same Hawkeyes that beat Michigan State. IU struggled at Illinois who are really bad too. Purdue did anything but struggle at Wisconsin. They are an extremely young team that has only lost once in conference play and that was at Michigan State by 3 points. If they beat the Spartans at Mackey this week and pull off a stunner in Bloomington next week they have a great chance at the Big Ten title.

ku gutted out a victory against baylor. Didn't hit a three for the first time in 8 years, but somehow they still scored 100. They haven't looked sharp for a few games now. Edited by snoodmonger

Purdue's defense was stifling against penn state. PSU could barely pass the ball around the court much less get it inside or get a decent shot off. it's shocking that Purdue remains unranked (thought that HAS to change this week)

Maybe some were, I don't remember a whole lot of that on here. I entered the season thinking IU would be much better than Purdue, but they're obviously not at this point. Purdue is playing better than anyone in the conference.

On your next post, using IU's close win against Illinois as proof they're not good is unfair. IU's not that good right now, but that was Illinois' game of the year. Probably every team in the nation would have struggled in that game.

My point was that most good teams can struggle against a bad team from time to time.

Ball State lost again, to Akron. 2-8 in the MAC, 3-19 overall.

Fight team, fight for Ball State;

We must win this game.

Onward, now you Cardinals,

Bring glory to your name!

Rah! Rah! Rah!

Here's to both your colors --

Cardinal and White,

Praying for a victory-

So, FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

bolded = very fitting

OK, I misunderstood you then. Good teams struggle against bad teams all the time, especially on the road.

Right now, Purdue is probably playing better than anyone in the conference. I am, however, still waiting for Indiana or Michigan State to step up and solidify themselves as the conference's best team. I may be waiting forever; IU certainly hasn't looked up to that task.

I can't see any Big Ten team really separating themselves to the point where they are no doubt the best team in the conference. Some teams have some exceptional talent, but from top to bottom, the top 4-5 teams in the Big Ten are pretty balanced in terms of talent and can play at similar performance levels.

Purdue is playing the best basketball in the Big 10, and has a great chance to win the conference. Now come tourney time, I could easily see an MSU, IU or Wisconsin excelling more than Purdue.

IU up 29-21 on the Buckeyes at halftime. Huge game for our Big Ten title hopes. Getting into that 3 game home stand at 9-1 would be awesome. :clapping:

don't look now, but UK's RPI is 88! it was like 200 at the start of SEC play. 5 of the remaining 8 teams on the schedule have an RPI of 50 or better. i think 12-4 in the SEC and a semifinal finish in the SEC tournament gets them in. it's going to be hard, though. they HAVE to win @ Vandy tuesday night.

Best win of the season for IU so far, 59-53 at Ohio State. OSU is #30 in the Sagarin and #32 in KenPom's RPI, so definitely a quality win. IU has still lost to the best three teams they've faced, but that can be remedied the next three games (Wisconsin, Michigan State and Purdue). D.J. White had 21 and 13, he's easily the Big Ten POY.

Great win in Columbus. Everyone "played within themselves". Gordon didn't force any action. Got good defensive contributions from the non-DJ big man for a change. And speaking of DJ, he was an absolute beast today. Scored 21 points with very few half court set touches. Scored all of his points off of his own offensive boards or drive and dishes by his guards. Jordan Crawford with a great contribution today. 8 points and career bests 6 boards ands 7 assists, with 0 turnovers. Biggest win of the season. 6-1 on the road. Keeps us in control of our Big Ten title destiny. Going on a high into 3 games against the rest of the conf. title contenders which are all at home.

I'd like to take all 3 because we're at home, but vs. Wisc., Mich St, and Purdue is going to be tough. Two of 3 may be good enough, as long as one of those wins is Purdue.

Good win against OSU for IU. The officials let them play, and for the first time IU effectively defended -- and attacked -- a larger team.

I'll admit that Purdue is better than Ohio St. now. MSU and Wisconsin are both better than them, and IU probably is too.

Its funny that Purdue took a page out of the UW book to beat them twice this season. They hustle, they're deep, they're versatile, don't make many mistakes, and they get in your face defensively. Seems like a team that will have trouble in a more closely called NCAA tourney game. They have a clear edge in the title race, being they only have 3 tough games left vs. MSU and on the road at IU and OSU. MSU has to go on the road to the other top B10 teams and has IU at home. Wisc. only has 3 more at home and 1 is MSU. IU has 5 tough games left, but 4 of them at are home.

Purdue is gonna be a very touch matchup for IU, because they do a lot of the same things well that IU does well (shoot the 3, FTs, run the floor). The difference will be the major differences, Purdue's defense, IUs rebounding.

I think it all comes down to the Calasan vs D.J. White match up. Can Calasan contain him defensively enough that he won't go nuts on the interior and can Calasan get his 3point shot going enough that it spreads IU's defense out?

Yowza, raisin, what the hell kind of camera angle is this on the UCLA game? Is it some guy in the 11th row with a handicam?

Fox Sports sucks. I can't wait for the Pac-10 to finish their awful contract with FSN.

It'd be superb if UCLA could win in Seattle once.

Calasan is no match for DJ. He does have some size, but he's weak on the boards, has no offensive game, and is foul prone. After him, their only "big" is 6'10", 210lb Johnson, who would get destroyed. I don't worry about a big man shooting the 3 with the zone we've been playing. In fact, I'd dare Calasan to shoot all night.

I do worry about the slashing and them being able to get DJ in foul trouble on some help defense.

Clemson facing a North Carolina team that does not have Ty Lawson, again. Clemson has never won at UNC, with something like 52 straight loses there. After needing a last second three from Wayne Ellington to beat Clemson the first time, I would not be surprised at all if Clemson broke the streak tonight.

I think Clemson will feel a lot of pressure to break the streak because it seems like such a golden opportunity. Because of that, I think UNC wins.

Oh, and Washington is the worst FT shooting team I've ever seen.
