UConn will have just 3 guards in Bloomington tomorrow. Their 2nd leading scorer, Dyson, and top bench perimeter player, Wiggins are both suspended for violating team rules. That's over 20 points missing from a team that doesn't get much backcourt scoring.

I still expect them to come out strong, ala IU without Gordon and Bassett vs. UK. And ala Penn St. without Claxton.

That's unfortunate for IU. I still expect a competitive game. UConn's huge frontline is still intact, which is what worries me. However, it would lessen a victory if IU wins; I wanted the Hoosiers to be fully tested. While I still think this will be a difficult game -- UConn is schizophrenic, IU could play the same and win by 15 or lose by 10 -- it won't mean quite as much.

Indiana will be plenty tested at Wisconson thursday. What matters right now is how IU plays, not their opponent.

Thank you Kyle McAlarney and Luke Harangody. They combine for 55 points and ND finally wins a road game, 90-80 over Villanova. That was one that they absolutely had to have.

How on earth is Indiana ranked #7??

They are just not that impressive (and not just today)

They were ranked fairly high in the preseason rankings so naturally they have edged their way up the polls with a 17-1 start. But even as an IU fan, I've felt a sense of reservation about this team....I'm not sure how good they really are.

This game today is just disgusting.

I don't think they are bad or anything, just lots and lots of close games. I see them as a Sweet 16 team, that's about all.

My gosh, Hasheem Thabeet has to be one of the most improved players in the country. The difference between last year and this year is like night and day..

Oh I did not take offense and I tend to agree with you on that assessment. We are pretty good but not quite in the same category as UCLA, Memphis, Kansas, etc. With some bracket luck we could be a Final Four darkhorse perhaps.

I see what you're saying, but there really aren't that many teams that deserve to be ahead of IU right now.

UCLA. :)

(Not that I care about rankings, I just want the 1 seed in the West and our first 2 games in Anaheim.)

You would only beat them by 15 at their place. I can see where you would be ranked higher.

Just a terrible call that completely swings momentum in IU's favor.

Yeah bad calls never happen in Champaign.

Also these are Big East officials so I don't think they are looking to do Indiana any extra favors.

it's the same system that had teams like South Florida ranked #2 in college football

I didn't even realize IU was ranked ahead of UCLA. That's bad.

Maybe I should have said "How is Indiana 17-1"

Because obviously ranking is pretty much dictated by record for big schools.

I don't care where they are from even the announcers pointed out it was a terrible call.

Gonzaga played Memphis tough today too. Hopefully Tennessee can take them when they come to Memphis.

Real disappointing loss at home. First in the Sampson era. 29-straight comes to an end. We missed too many easy shots early and took to many tough ones when we weren't.

I like Indiana, and that was admittedly the first time I've watched them play, but I was underwhelmed.

They have an odd mix. There only real post player is D.J. White. I like their young guards though. Gordon, Bassett, and Crawford are all good. Ellis can be a real match-up problem, but sometimes it seems like he struggles to fit in with that team. I wonder how much the frosh center would have helped this team. I think a lot.

They were clearly psyched out all day by the shot blocking capabilities of UConn. They were changing their shots without much pressure to do so. The guards were afraid to penetrate early on. It sucks that our 2 most lackluster games this season have come against the only 2 tourney teams they have played. I will state now, though, we will beat Wisconsin. And that's gonna be with UW coming off a loss today at Purdue.
