Aww, not #1. :(

You will be.

Then probably lose in the tourney.

The first recruit in the Billy Taylor era at Ball State (a kid named Hubbard) is 6'6" - making him taller than anyone on the BSU roster.

Big Ten media writers picked Michigan St. to win the conference

I can see that, Michigan St. is ahead of the pack with leadership and talent. Illinois, Wisconsin and OSU are unknown commodities this year. I do think the Big Ten is wide open, but Michigan St. surely will be near the top of the pack.

Stupid NCAA Ruling of the Week

Short Version: Freshman for Iowa State and Washington State ruled ineligible for the season because two other players on their German club team received unnecessary stipends from the club, as determined by the NCAA. As far as I can tell, and going off of what the article says, the suspended players never received any money.

Happened to UCLA's Nikola Dragovic last year, it's dumb.

Wisconsin Badgers

Picked 3rd or 4th in the Big Ten.

Probable Starters:

Brian Butch

Joe Krabbenhoft

Marcus Landry

Jason Bohanon

Trevon Hughes

also return several other bench players.

Key losses include:

Alando Tucker (graduation)

Kammron Taylor (graduation)

Michael Flowers (undisclosed medical reasons, no timetable on his return)

Badgers look to be thin at guard but Bo is pretty good at mixing and matching his lineups. System based offense so that even though a majority of there scoring is gone the system is effective and the Badgers have just been able to plug guys in and keep the ball rolling. Won't win 30 games like they did last year but will probably be a better balanced team. Might surprise in the Big Ten but will probably finish right around where they are picked, and will be a middle (7-8) seed in the tourney.

I think IU leaves Indiana/Illinois only 5 or 6 times all season. Almost all their games will be within a 3 and 1/2 hour drive from the Bloomington campus. That could be nice.

I'm actually pretty psyched to watch the Badgers this year. They'll struggle a bit without Flowers, but I like the development experience for Hughes and Bohannon. Also it will provide some nice opportunities for Jarmusz and Leuer.

Less than 5 days till the first preseason game against APU. :D

Does anybody have Comcast and tried to order ESPN Full Court yet? I was told I couldn't order until Nov. 7th. That's strange since the first ESPN Full Court game is on Nov. 7th...

Syracuse Orange:

Young and fun. We lost Rautins due to a knee injury but the team will still be good and if the Freshman step up, which I think they will....this will be a good year. Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris return with Freshman Donte Green and Johnny Flynn having to grow and get better as the season progresses. Onuaku will man the center spot and he might be a very good role/center type guy for this team. I hope that JC Transfer Ongenaet can help at the 4 or 5 or Jackson who is a 6'9" Freshman. Jardine out of Philly, if he can hit the J's that Rautins made, this team could be a team no one will want to play in the NCAA's, that is if we get invited. Harris will probably play the 3, undersized at 6-5 but he's a tough kid and can rebound very well for his size. Josh Wright is returning and the only senior and I don't expect a lot out of him but he adds a different dimension to this team and if the other players are hitting the J, he is a serviceable 1. Green will be the 4 and maybe even slide into 5 depending on the situation. The kids 6'11" and is very athletic. I hope they can keep him on the wing. I'm pretty excited to see how these guys will work together. Boeheim is pretty good when it comes to mixing and matching kids.

We're predicted to be middle of the pack in a tough BE this year.

UGH!

Tony Freeman who was clearly the best player on Iowa's already undermanned roster, broke his foot last night in an exhibition game and will likely be out 6-8 weeks.

I'm not sure what Rautins's dad was thinking putting him in against Leandro Barbosa in the FIBA Americas tournament. You have an experienced NBA player going up against a college sophomore....nothing good was going to come of that.

It would have been good experience for him and Jim B had nothing bad to say about it. I wish he didn't get hurt but it happens.

What a joke.

IU routinely plays the toughest schedule in the Big Ten outside of Michigan St. This year is an anomaly.

It's only preseason basketball against an NIAA team and I'm listening to a couple of students broadcasting on the UCLA radio station but it's great to at least hear UCLA bball again.

Shipp sounds freaking awesome, like he's got the burst and athleticism from his freshman year. :)

Kansas State Wildcats:

AP #25, ESPN #26

Probable Starters

David Hoskins F SR 6-5/230

Bill Walker F FR 6-6/220

Michael Beasley F FR 6-9/235

Clent Stewart G SR 6-4/195

Blake Young G SR 6-2/195

Bench

Luis Colon C SO 6-10/260

Jacob Pullen G FR 6-1/175

Fred Brown G FR 6-3/185

Andre Gilbert F JR 6-7/185

Darren Kent F JR 6-10/210

Dennis Clemente G JR 6-0/180

Ron Anderson F FR 6-8/260

It's the Beasley, Hoskins, Walker show. Hoskins comes out to play the perimeter, where he'll either A. Be able to post up a guard after playing pretty much the 4 the last 2 years. B. Bring a big man away from the basket where he'll leave Beasley down low. I expect Beasley to be the #1 or #2 draft pick after this year. If he's as good as Durant was last year, we'll be a top 5-10 team. In a scrimmage last week at Marquette, which took the place of one of our pre season games, Beasley scored 42 and had 12 boards. Pretty damn impressive. We're picked anywhere from 2-4 in the Big 12. Blake Young will be a surprise this year, as he was injured a lot of last year. He's really fast and very explosive. He's probably our best defender on the perimeter. Bill Walker will be the wild card. He'll dominate games at times. We have 3 new players, 2 of them being Freshmen in Brown and Pullen that will also contribute. Clemente, Colon, Kent and Gilbert will all also see a lot of PT. This season will all depend on how these young guys adapt to college basketball speed. Hoskins and Stewart are great senior leaders. Hell, Hoskins was 2nd team all Big 12 last year, and didn't even make all preseason Honorable Mention. We're VERY talented. If we can play good Defense, we'll contend for the Big 12 title.
