I think that makes it about a 99% chance that LaRussa is gone.

This could be very good for the Cubs as it looks like palace drama could cripple the Cards for a number of years.

So LaRussa's gotta be gone too right?

Any reason on why? Is it because LaRussa was leaving? Dissatisfaction with payroll? Just his time to move on after 13 years?

He was fired, not resigned.

Hopefully, it was because Cardinal ownership refused to spend more money.

Anybody see that writing on the wall?

I'll be shocked if BCast doesn't jump all over him.

Mr. Krivsky's days could be numbered.

The Cards are not going to be good again for a while if they don't replace him with someone capable.

Even then it is looking like a mediocre future until they can get incredibly Carpenteresque luck with a FA or until they can develop more than one position and pitching prospect.

Trading away Haren for Mulder alone should have got him whacked. That has got to be the single worst trade in baseball for the past... shoot, I don't know how long.

Liriano, Nathan and Bonser for Pierzynski?

Kearns, Lopez and whoever for two injured middle relievers/

At least Mulder had a fine track record to go with his alarming abuse/injury history.

I would trade gladly trade Hendry for Jocketty. Its not like Jocketty hasn't enjoyed some success as GM and St. Louis.

X2

And being as objective as I can possibly be, I think this signals the beginning of 3-5 years of non-contention for STL. That is unless they can land another really good GM.

This almost certainly spells the end of LaRussa as Cardinals manager, and though he is reviled by many, you can't ignore how good a job he has done. How he kept that team in contention as long as he did this year is beyond me.

Jocketty leaving likely means LaRussa leaving, which likely means Duncan leaving. Bad news for Cards fans.
