Zook said Juice could have returned. Didn't hear anything on Benn. I think the Illinois pass defense could be better but the numbers look worse than they are because Illinois has been forcing teams to throw all the time. They give up some yardage but they have also gotten picks.

awful day for sports.

yeah... florida fans aren't going to get a lot of sympathy around here. Slightly more than cardinals/bears fans.

florida and michigan each have one more loss than illinois!

Ladies and gentlemen, Notre Dame finally has a win!!!!!

Thank you, random UCLA walk-on QB and Karl Dorrell.

Course, the buzzsaw is back next week with (going to be) top-5 team Boston College, but I can enjoy this for now. :)

Notre Dame will probably be ranked in the top 25 too since they have a win.

Keener beat you to that version of the ludicriously lame, played-out, absolutely-no-merit-to-it-at-all ND joke, but I don't care because at least people are making fun of us for having a WIN.

Sorry...I just got home and didn't feel like reading the whole thread, but that wasn't a joke.

I understand, but it's still a crappy sports day.

My Tigers salvaged the day for me. And USC losing was almost as cool as LSU winning.

I've seen your LSU avatar, but for some reason never thought you were an actual Tiger fan. Did you go there or are you from La.? What gives, how did you become a Tiger fan? I thought vance, Adolfo and I were the only LSU fans here. Good to know there's another one here.

I will pre-emptively congratulate all you ND fans on your first win of the season tomorrow.

Now this won't be as fun if they actually win :(

(I took them)

(I don't know why)

Now you know why.

I'll say it: I think Mizzou could go undefeated until its bowl game. Prolly have to beat OU twice (next week and in Big XII champ). tough but not impossible. They look pretty good.

Would be nice for Illinois' SOS if Mizzou keeps on rolling.

And did anyone hear what Gary Danielson said considering Jacob Hester?

What an amazing win tonight. 70,041 fans, most since 1984 vs. Notre Dame. Gold Rush was the best I've ever seen it. Fans were loud and crazy. Unbelievable. I wish I could've been in the stands instead of the Press Box. Hopefully we can come out and play the same way @ OU next week. I think we have a legitimate shot at beating them and moving into the top 10, while taking complete control of the North.

Also, after being in the Press Box on the binoculars all night calling tackles, I can say this is the best sign I saw:

Excrement

Stool

Poop

Nebraska

I liked:

"Sam plays like Helen"

I normally hatehatehate the wave, but doing it for about 10 straight minutes, booing when it got to the Nebraska section and cheering after, was about as great as a stadium-wide taunt can get.

Good, but not as good as the "Lou Holtz for Prethident" sign during ESPN Gameday.

Media and college coaches love ND! Top 10 baby!

exactly, the other teams have been playing catch-up with the illini, but they know they can't go deep with the speed of the secondary. so they're basically nickel and diming it down the field, taking what the illini give them--and the illini are getting enough turnovers to win.

zook is coaching with the philosophy, the more plays you run and the more passes you throw, the more likely you are to turn it over. they're letting their opponents have yardage, but when they get the ball back they're just running right down the field because no one can stop them.
