Headline- Prior plays catch at the Friendly Confines

Prior, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder on April 24, had flown to Birmingham, Ala., to be re-examined by Dr. James Andrews, who performed the procedure.

"The doctor gave me good news and cleared me to start doing my throwing program," Prior said Friday. "I started doing my tossing on Monday. It's three days a week, and today was the third day, and so far, so good."

I am boggled that Prior is still one of the headlines on cubs.com even though he has not pitched all year and we are in the middle of a pennant race.

Meh. It's going to be hard for him to comeback from shoulder surgery, so I don't expect much from him next year. If he's the 5th starter, that's great. If not, that's alright too.

I really think he's going to be our #5 next year.

But I can wait to hear about him until the offseason.

I hope Hendry doesn't non-tender him.

I've always been a big Mark Prior fan, but I couldn't care less about him at this point in the season.

Agreed. Once this season is over, then I'll worry about Prior.

I didn't know there was a rule against reading about Prior when the Cubs were possibly going to make the playoffs.

Multi-tasking. It's not the end of the world.

I do hope that the Cubs give him one more shot next season, after all the surgery the organizations paid for. If not, it would be like restoring a '65 Chevy an then leaving it on the side of the road with a "Free" sign.

Nitpick, this is Prior's first surgery.

Glad to see Prior is doing all right. However, he's not my main concern as of this point.

That signing of Lilly and Marquis has been looking good thus far. It's nice to see those guys, regardless of how good or bad they performed, that they're ready to go on the 4th/5th day, without having to miss too much time.

Mark Prior IS more important than the Cubs post season run - at least to me anyway.

So....you would rather hear about Prior throwing than the Cubs making the post season?.......you need a check of the head

I don't think you understood what he was saying.

It all depends on how far he thinks this current crop would progress in the post-season. I won't assume for him, but if you have low expectations once you make the playoffs obviously the potential of getting back someone with potential of a healthy Prior to this current roster adds more excitement for next year than low expectations in the playoffs.

Also, for the long-term plans, a healthy Prior is more important than this playoff run.
