Mike Richards signs a 12 year/69 million contract.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=225091&hubname=nhl

I think this is a great move. I worry about the length but if I had to give a 12 year contract to somebody Richards would be high up on the list. He is a great all around player and will probably be Philly's captain down the road. Should be good watching him and Crosby going head to head for the next 5 years and hopefully more.

12 years?!?!? man i wanted him signed long-term, but that's a little absurd. still, the dollars are pretty reasonable for a player with his leadership qualities and all-around ability.

Richards doesn't strike me as an Alexei Yashin type of player who would sign a big contract and then just coast. He is all heart, the only worry is if he gets seriously injured down the line but I don't think he has a history of injury problems.

not a big hockey fan at all, nor a blackhawk fan, but i wanted to point out espn.com's front page main article is about the 'hawks young rookies.

hopefully all the changes revitalize the organization. getting recognition from espn is a good start.

I'm a little late, but I'm pissed the Ducks traded Andy McDonald. He was my favorite player on that team.

As a blues fan I am very very happy about this trade, McDonald was not scoring that much so far this year, but neither was Boyes last year and he had turned it around. Hopefully McDonald will do the same. He scored a goal and had an assist in his first game for the blues today so he is off to a good start.

I've liked McDonald ever since he was a rookie. He's a speedster who can score a lot if playing on a good line. If they team him up with former teammate and another of my favorite players, Paul Kariya, then he'll be an asset for the Blues.

If Selanne comes back but the Ducks don't have any cap space, I think he would be a good fit playing for the Blues with McDonald and Kariya as he has chemistry with both of them.

kudos to the nhl for giving chris simon a 30 game suspension. first of all, he's a piece of crap. and in addition to that, the
was not seriously hurt. I hate how suspensions seem to be tied to length of injury.

I may have to start rooting for the Blues if that becomes the case, but I doubt it. I heard Selanne would only play for the Ducks if he came back.

What do you think of the Vandemeer trade? Yeah, the Hawks might not have been able to sign him next year for the 2-3 million a year he might want, but getting a fourth line player in return isn't better than keeping Vandemeer for the year.

I can't believe nobody posted anything about Marian Gaborik's 5 goal game. Last time that was done was 1996 by Federov. He was soooooo close to number 6 and that would have tied the modern record for goals scored in a game. 7 is the all time record.

What a BIG win for the Hawks tonight as Toews beats the Senators in OT. Great win for the Hawks.

Big props to Khabibulin, he really made some big stops and kept the Hawks in it. GREAT game by Sharp, Toews was good as well.

The Red Wings are a video game team right now. They outshot the Wild, a defensive-minded team, by a margin of 51-19. It seems like every game of theirs is like this.

Toews is awesome. That play he made in the third where he went to the endboards and blocked the clearance attempt and then passed it out in front while on his knees was badass.

hey great, the refs probably just cost us a point because they don't know what icing is.

What happened?

sabres defenseman took forever to get a puck that the flyers had shot down the other end, and took a really indirect route to the puck. he basically could've gotten to the puck easily before it got past the end line, and icing should've been waved off. that entire referee crew was terrible. eric furlatt - i don't know who the hell he is, but he is just an awful ref. there have been multiple times this year when he's been much farther away from the puck than another ref, but ended up calling a completely bogus penalty from his (poorer) point of view.

Guess the 'Hawks aren't quite there yet.... :|

:?:

We won 5-2 tonight. Lang had 2 goals and Sharp had a PP goal and a shortie.

I've been really busy lately, and not checking up on the Hawks. I heard that there was a six game losing streak and that the latest game was 5-2, and just assumed we lost.

I was glad to hear otherwise.

And that Toews play was really great, he never gave up on the puck.

Three in a row for the Hawks as they come back from a 2-1 deficit to knock off the Oilers. Seabrook had two goals including the game-winner, which came early in the 3rd. Good way to head into Christmas :)
