5-4 will do it. I can't see Milwaukee going 7-4 with Atlanta and San Diego comprising 8 of those games. They probably go 4-4 in those, which means they would have to sweep the Cardinals.

Thats exactly what I think will happen with Pujols out. Wainwright might be good for a victory in that series though. Who knows.

Yea, I'm not ready to count on StL to take any of those games. It's hard to predict a sweep in any series, but it's also hard to predict the Cards winning anything the rest of the season, especially with Pujols out. I think Atlanta has a chance to win three this weekend though.

so... the magic number is what, 10?

EDIT - I guess tied in the loss column, there can't really be one. But it's 11 including one game playoff.

No, 10.. whatever

I'm so confused.

Greatest time in the world for a 10 game winning streak (counting last night). :D:D:D

I can think of a better time for a 10 game winning streak.

1-1 tie in NLDS was the first to come to mind.

Anytime in the postseason would be wonderful.

Hey, gents, a question about one-game playoffs.....

I remember back in 2005 that the Yankees and Red Sox both finished with 95 wins but the Yanks were crowned the division champs because they won the season series against Boston. Why couldn't the same apply to the Cubs and Brewers if they tie at the end of this year? Why would there need to be a one-game playoff if the Cubs won the season series against the Brewers?

Because who wins gets into the playoffs. The Yanks/Boston was for the Wildcard and first place, no matter what both teams were in the playoffs unlike the Cubs and Brewers as neither has a good enough record to make the wildcard.

Some sick part of me hopes the season ends in a tie and we beat Milwaukee's brains out in the one game playoff.

That is a sick thought, I want a sweep of the Pirates and then a sweep of the florida then rest the staff in the final weekend. Not realistic because both these teams give us fits. I wonder which "Z" will show up.

I truely believe the Yankees were so good earlyy in the centruy was in the playoffs was because they won the division by so much which gave them time to rest their pitchers. boston could have done that this year if they didn't tank it

Boston may yet need to rely on the WC to get in. Just think if this was 1969, people would be talking about the great Boston collapse instead of the Cubs.

1969 is the year Ronnie and I want to wipe from our memories

Yesterday was a crazy day for baseball. Mets score 4 in the 9th to take a 3 run lead into the bottom half, only to watch Florida tie it and win it in the bottom of the 10th.

Phillies come back late in the game to beat Washington.

Milwaukee loses a boring game against a guy starting his first major league game. That sounds familiar.

San Diego beats Pittsburgh to keep pace.

A Cub win and a Milwaukee loss today would be very nice. May I please have this as my early Christmas present?

The fact that the Marlins are showing so much spunk is depressing, certainly.

And those fans won't come out to see their future young players? Shame on you Miami. I hope that team moves.

BBB, do you find yourself rooting for the Padres to win the NL West, the Diamondbacks to be the wild card and the Cubs winning the NL Central so the Cubs will play in San Diego in the NLDS? :)

Boston and the Mets struggles are taking a lot of attention away from the NL Central and the Cubs. Im not complaining.

I haven't really watched the Sox but I am seeing the Amazing Mets just fall apart. Hey jersey, let a black cat run around at Shea for me will ya?

No. I am not rooting for any particular scenario. And if the Cubs do come here, the only way I go to a game is if my buddy serves up his season tickets behind the Padres dugout. The smoking law really turned me off from going to games. Special seats is about the only thing that would stop me from watching the game in the comfort of my own home.

And Petco couldn't touch Wrigley with a 10 foot pole. It's just another boring ballpark built in the '00's and a pain in the butt to get to. If it was at Jack Murphy, I'd be all over it.

I'm really disappointed to see that WGN won't be carrying the last Cub game of the regular season. I'm working in a bar that day, and I won't be able to watch the Cubs. I will be able to see the Padres/Brewers game since they televise all the Padres games locally. Kinda sucks.

Hopefully, we lock it up and the last game is a meaningless game.

Well, I want to see the Cubs in the playoffs and the Dodgers are tanking and I'm not likely to get tickets and a plane flight to Wrigely, so the Padres are my chance.

I take the trolley in to Petco so I never had a problem getting there.

If Columbus Day weekend games were going to be road games for the Cubs, then I'd be rooting hard for the Dodgers, but since those will most likely be home games (assuming the Mets and Phillies don't both collapse), I'm going to try and score tickets at Wrigley and catch a flight.
