There's no difference in the situation tonight. Just win four games. Ignore the Brewers. I can't believe people are up in arms because the Brewers won. They are irrelevant. All that matters is the Cubs going out and winning games.

 

Exactly. The Brewers don't count. We know they will probably win their games, especially against the now-worst-in-the-NL Cards, and the weakened Padres.

 

This is all about the Cubs going out and winning games against marginal NL opponents. That's all. Win our games, playoffs. Lose them? Didn't deserve it in the first place.

Yeah, I'm failing to see how anything so far has gone any differently from what people were suspecting. Brewers went 3-4 on their road trip, Cubs had a 5-1 homestand. Maybe the Cubs were 1 game better than folks were expecting, but right now everything is playing out the way it has to for the Cubs to come out ahead.

 

All they have to do now is win both series remaining, and they are in.

 

Heck, they still have a remote chance of finishing with the best record in the league.

Indeed, but I still think the Cubs have a better chance of taking two from the Marlins than the Brewers have of taking three from the Padres.
