I honestly don't get this. I know you wanna save your best pinch hitters for later, but every run counts and this is a premium scoring chance.

 

There are no good options for the Cubs against a left-hander. Ward, Floyd, and Fontenot are the best 3 hitters on the bench, and all of them are terrible against left-handers (Floyd is probably the guy who would be the best option if you had to pick 1 of them, Ward is awful against LHP).
