The signs are pointing more and more toward LaRussa not managing the Cardinals next year.

Seattle would make sense. In the AL so he doesn't have to face the Cardinals. On the West Coast so he'd be closer to his family in the Bay Area. He's never been liked much in St. Louis and would fit in better with the Seattle area vibe.

sweet...if he is going to AL West...selig should move another friggin team out there with him so that every division in baseball has 5 bloody teams

You can't have every division with 5 teams. Due to schedules being dominated by teams playing the same league, you have to have an even number of teams in the leagues. That is why the NL has 16 while the AL has 14.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, manager Tony La Russa and general manager Walt Jocketty could replace manager John McLaren and general manager Bill Bavasi in Seattle next season.

La Russa, whose contract with the Cardinals expires after this season, admits he would like to manage for four more seasons. Seattle is believed to be one of the top open positions this offseason and is closer to La Russa's Bay Area home. The rumor has also been reported by Buster Olney of ESPN and Fox's Ken Rosenthal in the past week.

plus every team in our division sucks, so i'm not sure what there is to complain about.

Jocketty is still under contract, you think we can get Adam Jones as compensation. :D

Do a Jocketty for Bavasi trade. :)

I notice you didn't post this in the "more bad news for the redbirds" thread.

Good choice.

True, but it could be worse. Either way, I have a feeling it is going to be even worse for Cards fans next year.

Dusty Baker is available

Wouldn't be shocked.

If Baker became manager of the Cardinals, I'd have a smile for weeks.

It will be Jose Oquendo. Long shot candidates being Will Clark, Larry Walker or Mike Matheny.

Oquendo still out to play every possible position, eh? :)

Why isn't Bob Brenly being mentioned as a serious candidate for any of the managerial openings? Don't get me wrong, I really like him in the booth, but he has to be one of the most underappreciated managers that has won a World Series ring.
