Nice, the home games of the NLDS are on a weekend. This is working out great. God I hope I can get tickets. And God I hope they make the playoffs.

I would LOVE for a Cubs/D'backs 1st round matchup...We'd have a major home field advantage, knowing how many Cubs fans are out in AZ, knowing how many Cubs fans would fly to AZ, and knowing how apathetic Dbacks fans are about their team.

I've found airfares to Phoenix for as low as $178

Home field advantage is the most overrated thing in baseball.

I remember in 2004, the Cubs started to slump as soon as they announced that playoff tickets were going on sale. Please don't be the case again this year.

Thankfully one game against one of the league's best starters doesn't qualify as a slump.

Is the workaround just opening 9999 windows (tabs, actually)? Because I already do that.

I think that's what it was last time. That's what I did for Reg. season tix anyway. It worked. Just a bit of a pain in the butt.

What do you mean? What window do you have open multiple times and why would it be an advantage?

How do returns / refunds work for playoff tickets if you have tickets for a game that never happens or a team that doesn't make it?

You hit CTRL - N and it opens another browser window, Firefox, IE, whatever you are using. The random computer generator (or whatever its called) doesn't go by IP address so it just thinks "x" amount of people entered the room. Opening 20 windows is like adding 20 more people in line. But it also increases your chances of being picked. It works for me every time when regular season tickets were available.

It worked for me when 2003 playoff tickets. Last row Upper deck (row 9 I believe), aisle 504, seats 1 & 2, game 1. Best game I ever went to. Bonus that I only paid $35 a ticket for them.

I was wondering this myself, bc I know I've had rain outs during the regular season (this year was snowed out, 2nd home game of the season against the astros) but to get a refund, we had to take the tickets back to the box office. If the game doesnt happen, its not worth driving from des moines to chicago to get a refund. do you know if we can mail them in?

How many windows do you advise opening and how do you know when you've actually gotten through? Do you have to open up each and every window to keep checking?

Alright, I won't be around at that time, so I told a friend of mine to go in for Game 4 tickets. Please let this happen.

Home field advantage is the most overrated thing in baseball.

If anything, baseball is the only sport with a legit advantage in the rules for the home team. The last AB. Football has the noise factor when the home team is on defense. In basketball, it's probably the most overrated of all. But baseball actually has a home field advantage written right into the rules.

Obviously, that doesn't apply in the case of the Cubs having a large fan base in AZ, and I doubt that the crowd being pro-Cub would make much, if any, difference.

for those of you who dont know the "work around" is hitting ctrl and N multiple times to simultaneously to open an excessive amount of windows. It allows you to basically cheat the waiting room and turn one place in line into many. There really is no reason to hide it because the scalpers are all doing this with multiple people and multiple computers. thus the chances of getting tickets are slim. So I'd rather see some real cubs fans get a ticket at face value, than get screwed by the secondary market. good luck

The games at Wrigley are on Saturday and Sunday of a weekend on which I will also be off Friday and Monday. I'm giving serious considerations to trying to obtain tickets and hop a southwest flight back to town for the weekend.

Does anyone know the answer to the previous questions about ticket refunds if the Cubs end up not getting in, or if we have tickets to game four but the Cubs end up sweeping?

I've been saving vacation days all summer for this.

I don't know if you'll have to go to the box office to return them or if you will be able to do it by mail, but you can definitely return them one way or the other.

I'm in class right now, so the Air Force won't let me take leave. Technically, I'm not even supposed to go outside a 500-mile radius even on my off time, but I'm willing to make an exception and take the chance. I've got 45 vacation days saved up right now, so that's not the issue.

Hopefully they can clinch by Friday, so I can still have the 7-day advance purchase window for the airline tickets, which wouldn't be nearly as refundable.

If we don't end up getting picked in the VWR, are we pretty much screwed? Meaning, do we still have a chance to see the games without paying 4 or 5 times face value? Does anyone have any backup plans?

I daresay some on here will try and procure extras, which you could secure for, say, 2 times the face value. :D

I'd much rather pay someone on here a little over face value than anyone else a lot over face value. Also, if I manage to come up with extras, this is where I'll be unloading them.
