Theriot called the damn ball from the 2nd it went in the air. Soriano for once decides not to run over his teammate to catch a ball and he gets blamed for it. Amazing.

Just because Theriot calls the ball doesn't make it his. Outfielders overrule infielders because it is generally easier for an outfielder to make the play. Hence, Soriano's ball.

The OF should call him off when hes back peddaling SSR. You know Im no Theriot apologist, but thats Sorianos ball man.

Nice work Hart. I've liked the limited sample I've seen of him.

I was personally happy Soriano wasn't running over his teammate for the 100th time this year, but I will back off that was partially his fault.

I wonder if everyone will freak out that Buck Coats is going to kill us, and then clam up when he Pierres out.

middle infielders calls when back peddling is that they can get to the ball. as soon as an outfielder recognizes he can make the catch, he has to call him off and make the catch.

like someone else said, he has no problem not listening to the centerfielder calling him off. there's a hierarchy here. CF over corner outfielder, outfielder over infielder, infielder over catcher and pitcher.

Didn't see the play but the OF has every right to call off the IF if a ball is blooped between the two, even if it's a shortstop, and should.

Even Santo looks depressed and pessimistic

I completely disagree, but I guess I don't see him too often.

Santo looked ridiculously happy given what's happened, IMO.

Starting to think that buying tickets to the final 3 games in Cincy could send me into a great depression. Edited by Bruno7481

Yeah they made a point to say how they wouldn't do that because it would affect the integrity of the playoff race. Yet, now they have no problem doing it. It is a joke. It would be the equivalent of LaRusa saying hey we are out of it Pujols you take the milwaukee series off.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I have full confidence that he will let the Cardinals roll over in that series.

Kind of off topic, but is Sean Gallagher still alive? It seems as if Hart has taken over his spot in the bullpen, just wondering if Gallagher is still around. Im in noway knocking Hart either.

Every time I check the Brewers game, the Astros have a couple baserunners on and are making the 3rd out.

The kicker was it was Pence striking out (who always hits us) and Loretta that had two homers vs. the Cubs last series.

Aren't LaRussa and Piniella good friends? That's my only hope is that LaRussa will feel obligated to "maintain the integrity of the pennant race."

I would have thought so last year, but he and Lou are boys. I hope he won't do that now.
