I'm following on gamecast and I can tell Soriano is at fault for this based on the reactions in the game thread, but how does one actually get caught in a fielder's choice at third base when there was no force?

It's still a fielder's choice even with the tag, because the fielder chose to make the play at a base other than 1st.

when your $18M man tries to go to third on a routine bouncer to short.

The ball was hit to Soriano's right, the SS gloved, threw to 3rd and he was tagged out.

wait a sec, so if the Cubs come back win this game, it's not gonna count?

Definitely possible.

Yeah the Reds protest a game that means nothing to them, in which they have gotten the benefit of the doubt on several calls. Meanwhile the Astros called to ask me if I could pitch against the Brewers. Seems on the level to me.

You honestly think the Astros are trying to lose don't you?

Reds shouldn't give up just because they are out of contention. And no matter how the ump calls have gone, it sounds like they have a legit complaint on this one.

The Astros suck and it pisses me off that Oswalt is missing his start too.

No, but I don't think they care if they do. Whereas the Reds are really trying to play spoiler.
