Really? From my equally biased perspective, I thought they were pushing each other the entire way. Both guys had their hands on each other while the ball was in the air and neither gained an advantage. You're never going to get that called on the offense when the CB doesn't turn his head to make a play on the ball. I thought it was a no call.

that's just ridiculous. Ike was looking for the ball the entire way with no hand play on his part whatsoever. look at the replay, and ask yourself this question..."why did he go for the ball with only one hand?"

the answer of course is the other hand was full of jersey pulling Ike to the ground.

Yeah I know that's why he only used one hand. I didn't deny that DJK was making contact.

You're right, I just watched it again and I was wrong about him not looking for the ball. I still think there was contact each way though. Ikegwonu was leaning his body into him and his right hand was in there. DJK definitely pulled him down more than I thought live last night though. Could have been called but it was probably tough to see from the angle. You don't see much offensive PI called unless there's a two-handed pushoff.

They did let them play all night though, only 8 total penalties. The only call against Iowa I had a gripe with was the pass interference on Dalton late but that was still a stupid play.

any 'lean' Ike made was because he had perfect coverage and had just as much right to the ball as the receiver.

I had some problems with the non-calls. all the blocks in the back as Iowa's QB ran for his life that were not called. the three flagrant facemasks by Iowa in the second half, and the only one called going for five yards (not that it mattered inside the ten, but it's a matter of principal)...while the blitzing WI DB got called for the exact same infraction.

as for the Dalton penalty play, they never showed the replay well enough, but I think the Wisconsin receiver may have made a great grasstop catch on that ball.

call me goofy, but grabbing a handful of jersey to twist a pass defender to the ground, regardless of a little hand play and bumping, should be called offensive pass interference. as for the two handed push off theory....any comments on that Truff?

edit - I'm not really bitching at you. very sporting to concede your point like that.

I don't know how much UM will win by but I feel pretty confident saying they will beat Penn State.

I love being right.

Oh and LOL at Wisconsin struggling to beat Iowa at home.

still big on the Big 10 bashing, but seems that Big East chatter has died down the past couple weeks. I love it when you're wrong.

Because Louisville lost? They lost to Kentucky, yes the team that just beat Arkansas in Arkansas, in the last second and may be the 5th to 7th best team in the BE. Their defense is terrible and they have to outscore teams.

does this not seal that you are just a total BigEast homer and refuse to debate these issues legitimately? it's not because Louisville just lost to Kentucky, CuseCubFab69. it is because they just lost to a team that Iowa and Illinois wiped the floor with. the same team that you have declared terrible over and over the past few weeks, CuseCubFab69. it is because Pitt certainly can no longer be considered "legit." it is because their second best team struggled against a team that lost to Ball State and nearly lost to Duke. it is because Auburn is proving week after week that it is simply a terrible team, Oregon State is below average, and UNC's and Marshall's terribleness was never in question.

Yeah after seeing the replays today, it probably was offensive pass interference.

The only thing on the Dalton play, he made contact with the underneath man, not the intended receiver. The guy he hit was about 5 yards short of the reciever who almost caught the ball. It looked to me like it was a little bit incidental and since it was uncatchable, I don't know about the pass interference. Although maybe it could have just been called illegal contact and it would have had the same result.

Mizzou jumps to #20 in both polls. Nice. Hopefully a win against Nebraska can propel us past the likes of Hawaii and the one-loss SEC teams.

Absolutely no reason we should've moved up 5 spots after playing mediocre-like against a 1-AA team, haha.

lots of people patting themselves on the back for picking a 3 point underdog who hasn't lost a game to penn state since 1996.

You and especially Derwood sounded a hell of a lot more confident about Penn State winning going into the game on Thursday and Friday.

The Big 10 is horrible. Deal with it.

Yes, Louisville sucked against Syracuse. They still have WVU and Rutgers and South Florida is looking like a very good team as well. I'm not going to excuse Louisville losing as the loss at home to Syracuse is probably the second worst loss of the year (UM to App State is No. 1). But the Big East was and still is a better conference than the Big 10.

Its a good thing for UM that Paterno uses the same offensive playbook as Lloyd Carr. Those 2 playbooks combined are probably like 3 or 3 and half pages.

If you missed the story, Llyod was called to Australia by Russell Crowe to help motivate his struggling rudgy team. The team did really well after Lloyds visit. Im really not surprised because in rugby its illegal to have a forward pass. Lloyd said he knew next to zero about rugby but once he learned that rule he knew enough to be right at home.

I picked Michigan in both the college football pools I did this week.

what's next, South Florida gets dumped by UConn and then UConn becomes the new "legit" team that you prop up with this joke of a conference with? WVU does look good. now if only they would have to beat someone besides Rutgers so some of us outside your dream world could find out. you're so quick to point out the Big Ten schedule, exactly which of these victories am I supposed to be impressed by?

And the 11 teams from the Big 10 beat are better? Of course, in your book Louisville is the second best team in the BE and ND is still a major power. You're still living in the preseason.

Louisville was expected to be the second-best team in the BE and was expected to challenge for a BCS game just like UM was expected to challenge for a BCS game. Louisville has been disappointing, no doubt about it, and it doesn't shine well on the BE. Anytime one of your teams drops a couple games like UM, and Louisville did, it makes the conference look bad.

But what is expected and what is are two different things in many cases. I thought they were going to be good but that defense is dreadful. But, since the BE has everyone play each other who's to say where the Cards will end up? It's not like they are 2-0 in the BE, they are 0-1 so who really says they are one of the top teams? Preseason hype is fun but you have to prove it on the field and they haven't. Now, if Louisville goes 6-1 in the BE, that wouldn't bode well at all. They have the talent to beat teams because of that offense, any team, but they have also proved that they can lose to any team as well.

So now that im over the beating he took, how can Tebow not be the Heisman favorite right now? Hes going to be on a top ten team (at least). He's going to finish with 3500 yards passing and 1000 yards rushing. (Right now hes on pace for 3800/1200)

To put that into perspective, only two players have ever had 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in NCAA history. Woodrow went 2,360/1,004 in 2001. Brad Smith did it in 2005 and 2002 2,304/1,301, 2,333/1,029, respectively.

Tebow is on pace for a 35:4 TD:INT ratio with the INTs being because of incorrect route-running. Obviously he won't keep up that pace on the picks. Tebow is on pace for 25 running TDs too! Dantzler had 21 passing TDs and 10 rushing TDs. Smith went 15/7 and 13/16. Tebow already beat one of those rushing TD seasons....

He may not wind up with 3500/1200 but if he's healthy and comes even remotely close to those numbers, he's gotta be the favorite.

Dixon's basically matching Tebow's numbers against better competition, with less talent surrounding him, and with less garbage time to accumulate stats.

I love how we have these "which conference sucks more" arguments every week. Why does it matter? I don't get it.

No they don't. I just don't like it when the BE is attacked when it certainly is a very good conference. Who knows who the best is but I do know it isn't the worst BCS conference.

I think something we can all agree on is that the ACC is the worst BCS conference.

Dixon failed to pass for 150 yards in two games this season. Dixon isn't on pace for 3,000 passing yards. Dixon has thrown for 180 less yards despite attempting more passes than Tebow. Dixon has run for sixty less yards. Dixon hasn't had as many TDs. Dixon's schedule has actually been the same.
