Well that's probably true, I'm sure he took a beating throughout the minors, but I thought his mental state was the reason given behind his sudden loss of the plate along with his decision to give up pitching and never look back. 3000 people in the stands making fun of the way you pitched when you were a hitter isn't quite the same as 40,000 with press conferences to follow afterwards.

It's nondiscriptive and has pejorative canotations.

 

It's still in use in geogrpahy. Oriental = East, Oxidental =West. Where those terms came from is beyond me.
