Let me be the first to say that Monroe is unlikely to be worth Rapada.

(or 3rd)

Was Coats on the 40 man roster? I know Rapada was.

Ugh, I was hoping we'd be getting rid of a lower level prospect. I always felt that Rapada could have been a real good LOOGY for us.

On another note, I wonder if Rapada goes straight to the Tigers bullpen.

The timing makes me think it would, assuming that they have someone they can demote for 2 days.

Article says Rapada will go to Triple-A Toledo.

whats Coats worth?

I didnt want to quote myself but from chicagosports it says a MiLB player after the season.

Did we make them promise not to play him against us the remaining 6 games this season..I'd hate to see one of our own guys kill us...

I'm not really concerned about Rapada. If the Cubs are committed to keeping Ohman (which it sounds like they are) Rapada has absolutely no future with the team. He's already 26, and he'll be turning 28 and probably a minor league free agent before Ohman's contract runs out. So he has little value with the Cubs, and not a great amount of value on the trade market either.

I would hope he might have been able to fetch someone better than a part time player for 6 weeks.

I don't really care about this trade. Rapada was no great shakes and Monroe is and has been utterly useless this year, I could give a rip about his "career" numbers. If the Cubs resign him for next it may just be the dumbest thing they've done since singing Neifi and Blanco.

Rapada probably could've developed into what Ohman was when he was on. I really wanted him up come 9/1, that's the only reason I'm annoyed with the move.

Anything in return for Coats is gravy.

Considering the rumors going around I guess Hart gets rostered come September?

No. He was DFA'd last week to open the 40-man roster spot for Monroe (so actually Monroe was responsible for both of today's moves). Most likely the Reds claimed Coats on waivers and worked out a deal with the Cubs.

The thing about the Clay Rapadas of the world is then you don't have to sign the Will Ohman's of the world to multi-year contracts worth a few million.

Meh, Hendry probably figured he owed Dombrowski after dumping Neifi on him last year.....

Any speculation on who we'll get, Crosby?(That's Bubba)

Only reason I mentioned him is becuase I'm a fan.

Probably not much. Low level relief prospect or cash I'd guess.

A relief prospect is unlikely. The Reds trade for relievers, not trade them away. :D
