Buck Coats isn't any good. He's a 25th man at best. The Reds sent him to AAA.

Both Coats and Rapada seemed trade bait at best for the Cubs organization.

 

The debate about the value of what the Cubs get in return will depend on the outcome of the season (Monroe), or who they get in return (PTBNL) and how he progresses through the minors.

Yea not sure what there really is to like so far about the 4 for 20 since becoming a Cub. Im not knocking him as I think he should be starting vs lefties in CF, but so far he hasnt done anything.

Appears to have been signed kind of late from the DR - like age 20 or 21. Finished his age 23 season in low-A ball and he was a reliever all season. Doesn't sound too interesting.

Cubs acquired RHP Marcos Mateo from the Reds to complete the Buck Coats trade.

 

Mateo, 23, had a 3.50 ERA in 41 relief appearances for low Single-A Dayton. Consider him a long shot to ever reach the majors.
