September 2? Where did you hear this?

News outlets were reporting today that Soriano wants to come back now, but the Cubs will probably hold him back until Labor Day (September 3rd). I've also heard a September 1st timetable.

He can't come back now; he just started running and hitting. Still, Terry Boers promised he wouldn't come back until mid-September. I hope he comes back by Labor Day just to prove Terry wrong. I like Terry, but his view of Soriano as just a notch above an average player, true as it may be, seems to have influenced him here.

I would be leery of taking anything Terry says without a grain of salt. Terry himself would probably agree.

During tonight's (Wednesday's) broadcast WGN just showed Fonzie taking BP, running the bases, and taking some flyballs on the run. Said he and the team have Tuesday the 28th as the 'new' target date...which would be outstanding.

I just really hope that he doesn't come back before he's ready and re-injures himself.

That would much, much, much worse than waiting 20 days for him.

Agreed.

I want him to come back when he's less likely to get hurt again.

Did anyone see Muskrats article on Sori returning where she kept calling him a CF?

Did anyone see where most people determined that calling her "Muskat" just isn't that funny?

So I'm guessing at least Tim determined that.

Test - Muskat (yep)

What if I wanted to have a discussion with my fellow NSBBers about an actual Muskat :(

Muskat Love

by Captain & Tennille

Words and Music: Willis Alan Ramsay

Muskat, Muskat, candle light Doing the town

and doing it right in the evening

It's pretty pleasing Muskat Suzie, Muskat Sam do the jitterbug

out in Muskat Land And they shimmy...

Sam is so skinny And they whirl and they twirl and they tango

Singing and jinging a jango

Floating like the heavens above

Looks like Muskat Love.

Nibbling on bacon, chewing on cheese Sam says to Suzie,

Honey, would you please be my Mrs?

Suzie says yes with her kisses

Now he's tickling her fancy,

rubbing her toes muzzle to muzzle now,

anything goes as they wriggle,

Sue starts to giggle

Sori will have orders to be very cautious so as to prevent another injury, which means he'll probably be a real slug in the outfield and on the basepaths. He's not an OBP guy, so he's going to have to hit some homers to be of value.

I want to think he'll be a savior, but his OPS is under .850. Is this really going to make us into an outstanding team?

Outstanding? No. They weren't outstanding with him. But provided Lou plays his cards right with Floyd/Murton/Ward/Monroe (i.e. not playing the 1st or last) then Soriano is a pretty big upgrade.

Soriano can't save this team. We will need Lee & ARam to start hitting better or we're not going to make the playoffs.

Which is exactly why he shouldn't be hitting leadoff when he returns. He should be put in the 5-hole and left there. There's absolutely no reason for him to be hitting leadoff, especially if he's not going to be stealing any bases for us down the stretch.

I remember how slowly Aram "ran" in 2005 when the coaches told him to be cautious. He pretty much jogged around the bases. I don't know if Soriano will be that slow but I'm sure he will be slow. There's no way Lou will let him run at anything near full speed.

Especially when the weather will turn cooler.
