Sori will have orders to be very cautious so as to prevent another injury, which means he'll probably be a real slug in the outfield and on the basepaths. He's not an OBP guy, so he's going to have to hit some homers to be of value.

Which is exactly why he shouldn't be hitting leadoff when he returns. He should be put in the 5-hole and left there. There's absolutely no reason for him to be hitting leadoff, especially if he's not going to be stealing any bases for us down the stretch.

I remember how slowly Aram "ran" in 2005 when the coaches told him to be cautious. He pretty much jogged around the bases. I don't know if Soriano will be that slow but I'm sure he will be slow. There's no way Lou will let him run at anything near full speed.

I'm not sure Lou will have much of a choice in the matter. Soriano doesn't seem like a player who will take it safe for pretty long. He's going to be testing the limits of what his body can take within a few days. He might not be attempting to steal bags, but I bet he'll still be turning on the jets around the bases.

He turned on the jets...right back to the dugout. At least he can't get injured, right?

he saw, what, 6 pitches in 4 at-bats tonight?

Something like that. Good way to get back in the groove, eh?

Anyone think Soriano should have gone on a rehab assignment before being activated?

no.

The way he looked at the plate tonight, I have to disagree. His timing seemed off. I think a few games in the minors might have helped.

I think a rehab assignment would have definitely helped but I agree with the decision for him to be in there. He is one of the few guys who can put a dent in the scoreboard with 1 pitch. We're in one of the biggest series of the year, probably the biggest so far and I'll take the potential over what has been dragged out there lately to meagerly put up 1-2 runs.

Isn't that pretty much how he looked at the plate before he went down? Soriano wasn't doing much of anything in the 2nd half.

Yes,but they probably were afraid to suggest it to him and possibly hurt his feelings.
