Murton isn't starting against a lefty. Ridiculous. I am also loving that Bonds will start all three against us and will take days off against Milwaukee.

 

I kinda like Fox starting though. I want to see how he will do. We already know what Murton can do. Fox seems to have more power than Murton.

You guys cannot really think you no more about baseball and in particular this team than Lou knows........do you? I am not saying I always agree, but some of you just act as if he just decides by the flip of a coin. I think he has earned a bit more respect than that. Coaching is sometimes about having a feel for your team and I think Lou has proven many times that he has a pretty good idea of what he is doing.

 

Truth be told it is just not as easy as some of you make it out to be.

I actually like that lineup. Murton whining aside I think its set pretty well and wouldn't mind seeing that against righties as well. DeRo is a solid 2 spot guy and I like having JJ down there so someone who can hit can at bat after Kendall gets on like usual.

I think I'd rather see Kendall hitting second and DeRo down in the order. While the difference is small, DeRo has some form of power while Kendall doesn't, but Kendall gets on base (especially now) better than DeRo.

 

Minor issue though, generally it's a good lineup (Murton aside).

Its .806 after his AB last night which is still higher than Floyds. Floyd hasnt hit a HR since June 26! Floyd has 4 hr's in over 220 ab's while Murton has 4 in 175, and has at least hit one as recent as the damn All Star Break. Murton also has more doubles than Floyd this year, do I really need to go on about why Murton should be playing over Floyd? Especially when facing a lefty.

Murton has actually been propped up bigtime with his 3 HR's in August

 

55 AB's, .273/.333/.473, 3 HR, 2 2B

 

Now that's just fine-HR's are a great way to prop up numbers because there is less luck involved.

Really though, with such a small sample of at-bats, 2-3 home runs can mean the difference between being good and being awful. For example, Murton without those 3 HR's:

 

52 AB's, .231/.298/.269

 

So yes, the only thing Murton has done this month is those 3 HR's, but HR's are such a big scoring play that those are enough to make him have a good month so far anyway.
