Here's a worthless stat for you, Fred:

The CUBS are 5-1 this season when I am in San Francisco at the time, which also happened to be the 6 games against the White Sox. (Let's ignore the fact that one of those series was during Pride Weekend. Pure coincidence.)

If I were a betting man, I'd say my presence in SF was the deciding factor, not the WSox's crapitude, so take the sweep to the bank.

I really need to get to SF for a game at AT & T.

my best friend went and was thoroughly unimpressed

as a resident of the Eastern Time Zone, I have to say that west coast night games suck butt

You're not Derwood. They're normally not finished by when I wake up on an average day.

I've lived within a couple of hours of SF for 3 of the last 8 years and this will be my first trip to the park. I've heard nothing but good things, and I'm pretty pumped to see it firsthand.

I heard it's pretty sweet too. I've only been to Candlestick.

Candlestick is a horrible stadium.

Great. No Ward or Murton and we get Fontenot. Oh well...

It was a good day off for Murton. He had started 11 games in a row, was 4 for his last 28, and are facing a guy who has been very, very tough against right-handers. I would have probably given DeRosa the night off and put Ward in his place, but maybe Lou doesn't feel comfortable having Ward play defense in San Fran's park.

I don't think this is indicative of any long-term trend either. If the Cubs wanted to keep Murton's bat out of the lineup, they could have played Ward and DeRosa in the OF and Fontenot at 2B everyday for the past 5. Since they didn't do that, it makes it much more likely that this is simply a day off for Murton, and Murton's PT won't go down until Soriano gets back at least (and hopefully not then unless Cliff comes back swinging the bat a lot different then he was when he left).

Plus Murton will for sure be in tomorrow against Zito.

I'm happy to see Cliff back not from a baseball standpoint but a personal standpoint. He's been dealing with alot lately and getting him back in there is gonna help him out. Team will be even more motivated with his return.

For those of you in California who care (like me, since I'll be in the car for half the game), the Giants radio broadcast will be on Bay Area's KNBR 680 AM, which routinely makes it as far south as LA at night.

Yeah, I've had countless friends from the Bay area who've told me how wonderful the ballpark is. Heck, one of my best friends who doesn't care about baseball loved the park when he went to visit and now routinely goes to AT & T when he visits his grandparents in Oakland.

I've been to around 12-13 ML parks (some no longer exist) and behind Wrigley, AT&T and PNC are my 2 favorites. Really good atmosphere at both. The Jake was decent and Comerica was nice and new but kind of had an antiseptic not so homey feel to it.

Why Floyd over Pie??

Pie is not allowed to bat anymore apparently, but Fontenot and his sub .600 OPS since the break gets to. Hell I would have been happy with Floyd Pie Ward in the OF if it means DeRo is at 2nd and not Fontenot.

Yeah, I think Fontenot has long passed his useful period. But since he was hot 2 months ago, Lou is overlooking the fact that he has been awful for well over a month.

i guess my friend's impression was that it was all very shiny and clean and nice but lacked personality (besides what it's designers ripped off from better stadiums). I've never been, so I can't really verify those observations

Eeek! Mets/SD might go to extras! That would mean the Cubs HD on ch 94 won't be on until it's over!

Catastrophe!!
