7-3, 3.95 ERA, 1.23 WHIP

7/16 vs. Cubs: 6.3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 8 K in 3-2 Cubs win.

After winning two of three from the Cardinals and taking over first place from the Brewers, the Cubs now travel to the West Coast for a six-game road trip against the Giants and Diamondbacks. This looks to be a tough game considering Lincecum shut the Cubs down earlier this year and Marquis is pitching but I hope he proves me wrong. Winning two of three is necessary.

This is also the only game of the three that I won't be in attendance.

The game will be on FSN for those of you in Northern California.

In case anyone has missed my extensive bragging about this, I will be front row behind home plate for this game. I'll make sure to post extensive amounts of pictures for you, Soccer :P

Also, because it's so unbelievably cool when people do it, I'll be on my cell phone and waving at the camera if I'm visible from the center field angle. I know you'll all love me for it. Unfortunately, I will not have a "Blame CT" sign, or any other sign for that matter. That's just out of my league - I'm nowhere near that cool.

Get a couple of foam fingers and constantly wave them at Lincecum.

We really got the shaft in these pitching matchups. Lincecum, Zito, and Cain. At least the Brewers have to face Webb or I'd be a bit concerned here.

Zito has the worst ERA on the Giants for anyone who has been starting for most/all of the year at 4.91. Only Russ Ortiz is worse at 5.95 but he's only made 7 starts this year. Plus the Cubs miss Noah Lowry who has the best ERA out of the starters on the year at 3.34. Plus the Cubs get to face Cain who is right up there with Rich Hill (though not quite as bad) for worst run support in the league.

EDIT: Lincecum will face both the Cubs and Brewers. The Cubs get Cain and Zito while the Brewers get Lowry and Ortiz which is pretty much a wash. Plus the Cubs don't have to face Brandon Webb in the next series.

Soccer10k is right, Zito hasn't been that good this year. Cain and Lincecum have a history of stifling the Cubs and I would worry about Zito because of the Cubs struggles against lefties but Lowry would have been an impossible matchup for the Cubs.

I thought i heard sumthing today bout Lincecum being on the berevament list?

Yes, but he should be back for the game tomorrow. A member of his family is ill.

which is the perfect billing for his dramatic return in which he throws a perfect game in honor of his sick family member

How about he goes 9 shutout and the Giants pen blows it for him in the 10th?

(Yes, Lincecum is on my fantasy team.)

White shirt with dark blue 3/4 length sleeves and a small cub face logo encircled in red, wearing Harry Caray glasses. Maybe a gray hoodie after a while, it's freaking freezing here at night.

Get a couple of foam fingers and constantly wave them at Lincecum.

I just got a new camera for this game, and I was thinking maybe I could use that red-eye reduction feature where it lets out a couple pre-flashes before the final flash, and spend the entire night trying to get the perfect picture of Lincecum mid-windup. Do they throw people out for using flash bulbs???

hmmmm, excellent idea. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I think I'll make a lot of friends in the stands this way.

Cain has a career 4.85 ERA v. the Cubs in 26 innings. I'm not sure how that qualifies as "stifling."

Zito hasnt been good this year... correct... But the Cubs are one of the few teams he's had a solid start against. 7 innings... Tied with 6 other starts for his second longest outing. He also just had his best outing of the second half against the 4th best offense in the NL, the Marlins... Should I mention he's a lefty facing the Cubs?

None of that matters. He throws baseballs with his left hand. The Giants have already won that game.
