Well, even if the game is PPd again tomorrow - due to the rain - we could be up 1.5 by the time we tip off the SF series on Tuesday night.

Well, for me, one good thing came out of Zambrano starting today - now I get to see Hill on Wednesday and Marshall on Thursday. Had the game never been started everyone would have been pushed back a day and I would have been stuck with Jason Marquis on Wednesday.

Jerk. I'm still stuck with Marquis Tuesday night, for which I will be closer to home plate than the first baseman will be. Maybe they won't even try to play tomorrow and I can still see Lilly for that game.

Z only threw 44 pitches tonight (pretty much like a side session between starts). He could very easily be ready for Game 3 of the series.

In 2004, Hurricane Frances wiped out a 3-game set with Florida in late August, forcing us to play something like 24 games in 23 days to end the year. The Cubs go to hell the last week of the year. Who knows if the Cubs would have played better at the tail end of the year without all the extra work late.

 

In 2007, a giant rainstorm possibly wipes out the last 2 of a 4-game set with St. Louis, forcing the Cubs to play something like 24 games in 23 days towards the end of the season...

I remember that; I always thought fatigue was a factor in the last-week collapse when the Cubs blew their Wild Card lead. This time it wouldn't be as bad. Even if one of the Cubs' and Cardinals' common days off is used to make up two games as a DH (rather than waiting until the end of the season to see if they're even necessary) there are still three other days off between now and the end of the season. It wouldn't be a good situation, but not a repeat of 2004 either.
