Just got back from the game. What a great one. Very surprised it was that close, but it was fun (and nerve racking). In the end though, a W is a W.

I just wish the Gary Pinkel factor would stop. Every time we get up big our offense gets really conservative and we throw a bunch of 3 and outs out there. It cost us a bowl game last year, and it almost cost us this game.

By the way, I don't think you win this game with Juice, because he can't complete a pass (or his receivers can't catch a pass for him, either one).

This was just early season rust, I hope, and hopefully we can come out strong next week and beat Ole Miss.

Great game for Chase Daniel, 358 yards and 3 TD/0 INT. I'll take that.

What a nice start for our freshman backfield

21/23 363 2 TDs for Bradford and 17-85, 5 TD's for Murray.

I wanted 80, but I knew Stoops would never let the offense get it. Hell, the last drive we had a white WR out there, and a white guy (No. 35 on his jersey, No. 41 on his helmet) with no name on his jersey in at running back. I was hoping a DB would pick off a pass and take it to the house so we could set a school scoring record, but I guess I can live with 79 points.

I don't think those bubble screens are going to work as well against Miami, though.

In the battle of my two favorite college fb programs UK defeated EKU 50-10. Good to see the offense do well especially running the ball. More importantly despite it being EKU, the defense did better than I expected.

Juice was 6/9 and was looking pretty exceptional before he got hurt. Juice wouldn't have fumbled twice and wouldn't have thrown that pick in the end zone at the end of the game. And I told you that Missouri wasn't going to blow out the Illini

And if Gary Pinkel wasn't an ass, it wouldn't have been close.

Doesn't matter. A win is a win, regardless of how ugly it is.

man this blows, apparently some defensive player for tennessee can't move his hands, according to the abc sideline reporter. hope that it's just temporary but this is scary for a kid who has his whole life ahead of him.

ok good he had his arm up and moving on his way out, hope he is okay.

on a side note, i got to holy cross not far after travis roy was paralyzed in his first shift as a hockey player at BU, and it was pretty sad - big news across new england. I think he's made a pretty good life for himself since then, but still...

He was moving his arms as he was carted off the field. Probably was knocked unconscious or ordered not to move anything.

Missouri had no right to win this game. A real shame that Juice got injured.

Missouri isn't going to beat us again for awhile.

Like I said, youthful mistakes. Illinois is clearly the more talented team.

How in the world do you figure that?

I'll give credit where credit is due, because you guys played a good game. But is shouldn't have been that close.

And someone tell that backup QB to stop crying. How embarrassing!

So is my 6 months of premium paid yet?lol

cal just stuffed the ball down tennessee's throat only to fumble at the goal line.

When we ran the ball twice in a row on 2nd and 3rd and 1, I was speechless.

[semi-irrational rant to crazy talk depending on who's reading]Also, to play blind homer who didn't have much replay benefit, did Mizzou get hosed several times during the game? There were two 3rd down plays that it appeared were caught and then the ball came out after they were down, but both were ruled incomplete. I also thought it looked like Daniel's arm was coming forward on the fumble, we got shafted several times with bogus Pass Interference calls, and U of I didn't get 2 Delay of Games called on their last possession.[/semi-irrational rant to crazy talk depending on the reader]

Williams and Daniel both gave textbook examples of why QB's need to slide. In Daniel's case he was already 5 yards past the first down marker, just go to your knee already and stop giving me heart palpitations.

The only call that I thought was really questionable the entire game was the Head to Head hit on Juice Williams which was followed by a Personal foul face masking on the same play.(announcers seemed to not even notice the obvious face mask) Neither was called. I was cheering for Illinois but certainly am not a Illinois fan. So I dont think I had any homer glasses on.

I really think Illinois was probably the more talented team. If Zook can get them to clean up their mistakes. Look out.

It was our defensive end Xavier Mitchell. One of our better defensive players and a senior.

The thing that worries me still is that last year, one of our starting corners, Inky Johnson, had a similar incident and was carted off. When he went off, he too waved his arm on the way out. He ended up having nerve damage around his neck and will never play football again.

It would be a shame to have that happen to a second very good player in consecutive years.

Cal up 45-31 with 2:46 left. I like.

The defense for Tennessee didn't even bother to show up tonight. They couldn't cover anybody, and even worse couldn't tackle anybody. Cal has some very good players and terrific athletes, but there's no reason why we should have missed as many tackles as we did tonight.

Kudos to Cal. They showed up and wanted to win more than Tennessee. There was no real apparent desire in the way the UT defense played and you're not going to beat good teams like Cal when you don't show up.

Needless to say I'm pissed and, at the same time, worried about the game against Florida. If the defense doesn't remember how to tackle by then, we may give up triple digit points.
