He didn't bump the ump, just yelled at him. This is almost certainly gonig to get reduced though, 3 games is way too harsh.

My guess is that Ryan Braun and Corey Hart and whoever plays instead of Fielder all hit homers in all of their ABs during the suspension.

Yeah, I'm with you. The suspension is B.S. but hell, i'll take it. Hopefully it starts on Aug28

Why, he didn't bump the ump, just watch a video of it. 3 games is more than you normally get just for yelling in an umps face... plus the ump actually followed him as he was walking away and yelled something that made Fielder come back and argue more. It will be reduced to 2 games almost for sure, maybe 1.

I saw a video. It looks like he does make slight contact with the umpire. It was likely unintentional, but when you make contact you're going to get some games.

Lou accidentally kicked an ump and got four games. Accidental or not, it's contact with an ump.

the BS appeals process will mean he won't actually serve the suspension until a convenient series with Pittsburgh or San Francisco or something

The way the Brewers are playing, they'd get swept in that series without Prince.

Wasn't Lou just for kicking dirt on the ump?

Anyway I agree. Contact is contact, doesn't matter how slight or if it was intentional. 3 games is entirely appropriate as far as I'm concerned.

OK. The league will just take the ump's word I'm sure, despite the fact that Froemming is a.......well, I won't say it. Just never liked that guy.

btw, Prince Fielder fat jokes are as lame as Hendry fat jokes or Edmonds gay jokes. enough is enough already

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that.

Prince Fielder is a good player, but he's pretty out of shape for someone who is supposed to be an athlete. I think we have the right -- no, the obligation -- to make fun of him until he loses some weight. Both for his health, and our personal satisfaction.

Edmonds isn't actually gay (or if he is, it doesn't hinder his athletic ability).

Hendry is fat, but he's not supposed to be in shape because he's not an athlete!

For further information, I urge everyone to view this video, which shows that Fielder's problem with obesity clearly started at a tender age...

.

cuz i'm sure he frequents this board and will appreciate your hard-love intervention on his obesity.

at this point, he's a better hitter than anyone on the Cubs, so I don't begrudge him the extra pounds. it hasn't hurt Cabrera, Ortiz, Mo Vaughn, Cecil Fielder....

:Hoping you read my sarcasm in that post:

Of course he's a better hitter than anyone one the Cubs. I'd kill for Prince on my team anyday.

And for the record, Cabrera's ZR is way down due in part to his weight gain, Ortiz is a DH, and there's little doubt that Cecil, Vaughn, Tony Gwynn, and yes, Prince would be better overall players if they were actually in shape.

Wait. We *want* Fielder to lose weight for his own good, presumably so he'll be a better baseball player for longer?

Did Hendry pull off a trade I wasn't aware of, or something?
