not hate Dusty Baker when he does an ESPN game?

I would have rather dry-humped a pile of used needles than let him coach the Cubs for one more game, but I really enjoy him on TV.

I enjoy listening to him on the broadcasts too. I've gotten to the point on most sports broadcasts, I don't look for deep, insightful analysis - I just look for people I enjoy listening too.

For whatever reason, Dusty is one of those people.

I was listening to him earlier and it was ok until he started talking about Eckstein and started saying "well he's like one of those little bugs that you just can't squash and it keeps coming back and biting you" and I got annoyed again.

I think the reason he's appealing is that he isn't Joe Morgan.

"In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."

That is actually a hilarious statement.

i think so too. But when used as a positive analysis of a baseball player, by a professional baseball analyst, it makes me cringe.

I just love his pointless comments. Last year in the playoffs my friend and I were watching BBTN, just waiting for Dustyisms.

After a highlight was shown where So Taguchi hit a homer, Dusty goes, "The dude can hit a fastball..."

Who can't at this level, Dusty? (Except Koyie Hill)

Let's face it, Dusty and Joe Morgan are idiots.

So is Lou Piniella.

I don't care for Dusty's insights. He has always been a pretty affable guy, and he is probably better suited, IMO, to round table discussions. But, his commentary during games and BBTN usually just leaves me shaking my head as when he managed the Cubs.

Lou is absolutely not on their level just because he doesn't play Matt Murton.

Need I remind you of how Pagan and Floyd have become the new Neifi.

I enjoy listening to Dusty. Some of you need to let go of the idea that everything said needs to be correct. I rather enjoy listening to Dusty's little theories -- it confirms to me why he failed in Chicago, but also, it's pretty entertaining to listen to his idea of what should happen. Basically, he's extremely old school, using almost no hard statistics to guide his way.....at all.

I was noticing this last night. He is awkward and unentertaining, but he doesn't spew ridiculous crap like Steve Phillips, Jeff Brantley and Joe Morgan. He generally stays within himself and doesn't act like an expert.

Other than this, he was fine:

"Scott Rolen has a lot of Golden Gloves. That's the one part of Albert's game that isn't complete. Maybe one day he'll win a Golden Glove."

Yes, Dusty. Maybe one day in last November he will finally win a (gold)en glove and complete that part of his game. The golden glove part.
