Don't really think Milwaukee needs to do this unless this preludes to a Turnbow for Dye deal.

That sort of deal needs to be stopped....

Why? Dye has been less than spectacular this year.

So has the rest of the Sox lineup....

If he got slotted into the Brewers' lineup I just have a feeling he'd do pretty well.

I also believe Linebrink is a FA this offseason, so it's basically 3 prospects for a rental player. Seems like a lot.

Won't Linebrink probably be a Type A free agent?

I doubt it. If memory serves, Elias determines free agent rankings based on IP, ERA, W, and SV for pitchers. Linebrick has a solid ERA, but not much in the way of the others, being a setup man.

Then again, I could be completely wrong about how Elias works out those rankings.

Could this be a precursor to the Dye for Turnbow rumor from a couple days ago?

That's possible and if that happens, it will solidify their OF.

Milwaukee needs starting pitching, not outfield help. Hart is better than Dye at this point, the Mench/Jenkins platoon is terrific (they're each OPSing .850+ on their side of the platoon), and Hall returns to the lineup tonight.

Where would they play Dye?

If we would've traded say -- Veal, Pawelek, Patterson, or Gallager (our number 3 prospect depending on whom you ask) PLUS our number 23 and 27 prospects for Linebrink, this board would've crashed in 2 minutes Edited by RonCey

I wonder if the speculation that the Twins would trade Joe Nathan is true. The Twins aren't going anywhere in that division. I know it would take a lot, but I'd love to see him added to the bullpen.

The last thing we need is bullpen help.

There are FAR higher priorities.

I doubt many of us would care if Pawelek was traded for Linebrink.

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but why would the Padres dump their stellar setup man?

Because they just raped the Brewers.

He's been less than his usual self this year, he's a potential free agent, and they have had several relievers performing as well or better to pick up slack from trading him.

Will he qualify as a type A or type B free agent if he walks? And what are the actual guidlines that seperate the two?

I suppose. They still just took one of their better arms out of their bullpen in the middle of a pennant race. Prospects or not, it is odd to be selling key pieces when you are leading the WC race.

It'd be similar to us trading Wuertz for a pretty impressive prospect haul, if Wuertz were a potential FA.

I would be ecstatic if we had traded Pawelek for Linebrink.

Two months of a decent relief pitcher and one, possibly two, high draft choices for Pawelek? I would do a dance.

Linebrink has been horrible on the road.

that's only this year.... last year he was fine on the road, and 2 years ago he was lights out. He's been one of the better middle relievers in baseball. It's a good pickup for the Brewers, but they had to pay a pretty steep price in Inman.

So was Scott Eyre.
