How can you take steriods and still suck? Or has he been better this year?

Steroids don't magically give you talent... I would bet a vast majority of the players that did/do roids suck

I don't know about "vast majority" - I bet a lot of good/great players are or were doing some stuff too, but I agree that a lot of average or worse players were using them in hopes of making it to the majors or staying once they got there.

.172/.221/.266 for an OPS+ of 29.

And all I have to say to Neifi taking banned substances is exactly what vance said,

His supplier must have delivered him the banned substances through a hole in the Wrigley bullpen wall.

Neifi Perez was suspended on Friday for 25 games for testing positive for a banned stimulant.

This could be a blessing in disguise for the Tigers as Leyland won't be tempted to play Perez any longer. Jul. 6 - 10:56 am et

Hahahaha

1) Do we know that this is a performance-related substance, rather than, say, cocaine?

2) When would Neifi! have taken this test?

3) Is it plausible to suppose that this test would have caught whatever Neifi took anytime? I'm sure the players union has made sure the test has few false positives, but with what frequency does the test give the right answer?

That made me laugh.

The real question is, How is Dusty going to defend him on Baseball Tonight?

I was thinking the same exact thing. Lay off the crack pipe Neif.

Funny comments by Tigers fans:

This is good news for the Detroit Tigers.

He won't be paid for the next 25 games, at his inexplicable guaranteed seven figure salary. The Cubs agreed to the contract, the Tigers panicked and grabbed him after the Polanco injury last August. His continued presence on the major league roster is hard to explain.

The Tigers not only save a few hundred grand, they get to use a major league baseball player on the roster. 25 players now instead of 24.

Perez not only never hit safely, he never walked, he never hit for extra bases, he couldn't do anything except bunt and field.

What luck!

What he needed a stimulant to stay awake on the bench.

Hopefully, he'll learn how to hit the ball by the time he comes back.

Give em Eyre, Jones, and Izzy and then they'll have something to complain about.

They are feeling our pain from a year ago, however. 8-)
