I wonder if he prefers it that way?

On a side note, Craig Biggio and his family stole my cab. After a Cubs/Astros game a few years ago, ny friends and I were about to get in a cab on Sheffield and all of a sudden a roving mob of autograph seekers are coming our way and the next thing we know Biggio's kid slips in the cab and we just looked at them kind of shocked as to what was happening.

Not a big deal, but kindof funny in hindsight.

I think if we were all in his situation we'd do the same. Most of us anyways. I know if I was getting my 3,000th hit I'd want it to be at home

I think it sucks because Burke is just as bad as Biggio. at least Biggio stands a chance of wrapping one around the foul pole.

It's like Sammy still playing to get his 600th HR. Just hurry up and retire. There's some guy out there that isn't going to get his shot in the show b/c you're taking up a roster spot.

now, if bonds were to skip a series to try to hit a homerun in pac bell...

That will happen. It may not be a whole series, but Bonds will hit 756 in SF.

I thought he might try for Pittsburgh or San Fran, but yeah.

Yeah, I think even MLB would step in to prevent him from hitting 756 outside SF. I mean, imagine the hostile reaction he could get. I don't think MLB/Bonds/SF would want that archived on film stock, how people really think of Bonds.

Sad thing is, my buddy and I have tix for teh 7/18 game against SF. We were hoping to maybe see "it" happen, but probably not now. Oh, well!

Loretta is a better player than Biggio. I'm fine with this.

Bonds might have a tough time getting 756 at home. I can see it now. He's sitting at 755 with a 7 game road trip. He sits out all 7 games, then comes back to San Fran, where the opposing pitchers walk him each time he comes to the plate in fear that they might be the guy who served up the home run that broke a legendary record held by a man of class.

Who wants to be that pitcher?

Of course, this strategy could backfire for Biggio, and he may not get 3 hits in during that homestand. Then what?

I have an odd feeling that the Cubs could factor greatly into the Biggio and Bonds milestones.

Gah, isn't it enough that we helped Sosa reach 600 and McGuire reach 62.

I mean how much more can we be expected to do for baseball?

he should, actually, as if he hits it on the road, he's likely to be pelted with batteries instead of celebrated for his achievement

Considering Sosa is only guaranteed $500,000, and he leads his team in RBI and is 2nd in HR, I'd say Sosa isn't exactly a bust yet. Yeah, his OBP/OPS isn't spectacular, but who else are you gonna put in that DH spot in Texas? Or their prospects? 7 of their top 10 prospects are pitchers, and I can think of a handful of other guys on that team who deserve to be sent down/DFA'd while one of the prospects get called up who aren't named Sammy Sosa, namely their entire starting rotation

Biggio surpasses 3000 hits tonight and then adds 3001.

During a game in which his team wins by way of extra-inning walk-off grand slam. I think Houston just experienced its baseball highpoint for the season.

And this is precisely the reason why he will hit it in San Francisco. That and he doesn't want to get serenaded with boos when he does it.

It's ironic that you made that post when the picture in your signature shows the Cubs high point.
