This oughta be interesting....

I wonder how Milton will react once he gets a homerun, that Buddy Bell won't play him the next day.

The Royals are quietly putting together a respectable team.

Of course, I spoke too soon...

The KC Star says the deal is off due to Bradley having an oblique injury.

Here's the information

MILWAUKEE -- Outfielder Milton Bradley was traded to the Royals -- almost. The deal was cancelled before it actually happened.

The Royals, on Friday, had agreed to a trade with the Oakland A's, sending them pitcher Leo Nunez in exchange for Bradley.

Then, according to a Royals spokesman, the A's learned that Bradley had suffered an oblique injury in his last game for them and the trade was called off.

"Obviously we tried to make the deal, but before the final phase was completed, there was a complication with the medical part and we had to pull out of it," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said.

Police have responded to the Redondo Beach home of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley three times this summer on domestic violence calls, including one instance in which he allegedly choked his pregnant wife, bloodied her lip and hurled a cellular telephone into a wall.

I'm not one who thinks there's much value in clubhouse chemistry, but beating your pregnant wife is an exception.

Rotoworld is speculating that Bradley might be faking the oblique injury so that he can become a free agent and pick and choose who he actually plays for.

I'd get him and DFA Jones.

Bradley definitely will be traded in the next 9 days. I wonder if Beane would take Jacque in a trade. His "moneyball" theory for this year was that guys with injury concerns are undervalued, but I have to imagine its driving Geren insane. Jacque is a pretty good buy low candidate. Hes sucking this year but at the end of last year we all ate crow given his production for his contract. I'd much rather do that then give up a package including Marshall for Griffey.

I don't believe Oakland wants an outfielder in return. The main purpose for trading Bradley is because of a crowded outfield.

They have Nick Swisher, Shannon Stewart, Travis Buck, Mark Kotsay, Bobby Kielty (injured), Jack Cust and Chris Snelling, without including Milton Bradley.

It probably wouldn't be in the best interests of Oakland to add Jacque Jones, who has essentially been an everyday starting outfielder and gets starting outfielder salary, to a team that probably wouldn't play him everyday. To trade Bradley for Jones would actually be a downgrade offensively, and they will still have the same problem of having to listen to a veteran player complain about not enough playing time.

To me, Oakland would view Jacque Jones as Terrence Long Part 2. An overpaid part time player that they would have trouble getting rid of. They finally pawned Terrence Long off on San Diego, but he was essentially a throw in to balance the contracts changing hands in a Ramon Hernandez/Mark Kotsay deal.

Deal voided by Royals.

Bradley says he got hurt in his last game with A's and has a nasty oblique strain.

Dayton Moore says the A's didnt know about it, so he has no idea if it is true or not. Either way, they cancelled the trade.

Evidently Buster Olney on ESPN Insider mentioned that the cubs were one of the teams interested in Bradley in addition to the Yanks and Pads.

I'd love to see it. I wanted Bradley last year.

Just a question: Does it mean anything when CBS Sportsline has us as one of three teams interested in Milton? I was just curious because I find a lot of rumors on there but nobody here seems to pay attention to that site. Thanks in advance.

I just don't see the Cubs bringing Bradley on. I'd love for them to take a chance on him, but he has too many off-the-field problems for the Trib.

If I'm not mistaken, he hasn't had an off-the-field or an on-the-field problem since he was with the Dodgers 2 years ago, unless I missed something after that

Update, he's been reportedly traded to the Padres:

Milton Bradley-OF-Athletics Jun. 28 - 11:57 pm et

The Padres have reportedly acquired Milton Bradley from the A's for a pitching prospect.

It could be a very nice pickup if Bradley shows up and is ready to play, and if not, well, the Padres can still get by with Jose Cruz Jr. and company in left field. Bradley likely will get a chance to play regularly , leaving Cruz with far less playing time for the short-term.

Surprise, surprise; Bradley's back on the DL again. I love Sportsline's take on it:

Milton Bradley, OF SD

News: Milton Bradley (oblique) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday.

Analysis: Hahahaha. Bradley is gawd awful. He can't go two games with his new team without going on the DL. Reserve him in all leagues for Fantasy Week 14 (July 1-8). Stash him if you're a glutton for punishment.
